Good Morning, Happy Monday, and happy back-to-normal for this girl.
Thanks so all the crazy weather back in Chicago and the Midwest, Zach and I didn’t make it home until pretty close to midnight last night. Needless to say we are EXHAUSTED this morning and will likely have a couple early-to-bed nights ahead of us after a long fun weekend and late Sunday night of travel.
This Morning:
While I would have LOVED to get a good sweat fest in this morning before work to start off my week, when my alarm went off I KNEW it wasn’t going to happen. Didn’t even hit snooze. Just reset for 715.
I skipped my normal rest day last Friday because I REALLY wanted to start the weekend of indulgence off on a good note, and I wanted to run my old home. So my body is a little more exhausted than normal. Then add the traveling and lack of sleep? Wasn’t going to happen for this lady this AM.
But, I brought my workout clothes with me here to work and am telling myself that I am going to fit in a good strength work out this afternoon.
After 6 days of running in a row, some strength training might feel good on these little muscles of mine.
Workout Plan For the Week
Since last week and last weekend were so weird, I didn’t exactly follow my last work out plan to a tee. And you know what, I was A-Ok with that. I never missed a day of sweatin’, and I actually got my butt OUTSIDE for 3 out of my 6 runs. Considering I ran in what was almost a tornado in the midwest yesterday, I am patting myself on the back.
But for this week, I am going to PLAN to have it a little run heavy to finish out the POTM and try and get as close to my initial goal of 1,000 miles for 2013 as I can.
- Monday: STRENGTH training (plan: 10 minutes treadmill, 100 push ups, 200 sit ups, 300 squats)
- Tuesday: 4 easy miles
- Wednesday: 4 speed miles
- Thursday: 4 easy miles + short strength training routine
- Friday: 2 miles shake out
- Saturday: 2 miles (hopeful) and skiing
- Sunday: 5-6 miles.
So that’s anywhere between 20 and 24 miles for the week, with two strength routines built in. I currently stand at 65.5 miles for POTM, leaving 35.5 miles left for the month.
Gotta keep up the pace but I think I can manage it 🙂
Alright guys 🙂 I’ll be back later this afternoon to start the recap posts of this weekend. I think my first one is going to have to be about my runs…because let’s be real. We all love chatting about new runs and work outs, right?
Question of the Morning: PLEASE tell me about your weekend, or just your life in general 🙂 I miss everyone and feel SO terribly out of the loop 😉
You are on a great pace for your POTM challenge! Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the weekend without worrying about keeping up with your workout. 🙂 Especially if you get it in during the next week! Glad you had a good and relaxing weekend.
Thanks! I’m really glad I was able to fit in 2 fairly easy runs in chicago…but you are so right it was NOT my focus. My focus was on enjoying myself, which I definitely did 🙂
My first 10 mile run this weekend. I’m sore! Keep up the good work 🙂
Ahh how exciting! I cried after my first double didget run lol
I wanted to cry! But it was a great learning experience….like…toenails are overrated…and peeing on the side of the road is humbling 🙂
LOL Oh my gosh I LOVE that you just said that. You are SO a runner 🙂
I did the Pumpkin Pie 10K at City Park – I ran it without my Garmin…which was a good learning experience but I don’t think I’ll be trying that again any time soon. It was so hard! I’m a terrible pacer and apparently my body decided to try to PR in the 5K.
LOL — I actually wanted to run that! And lately, I have been running without my garmin which FEELS great, but I am super curious what my paces have been!
You should sign up for one of the Winter Distance Series races (I’m doing the whole long series, the first one is the Santa Stampede on Dec. 14th…use promo code WDS1 for a little discount too!)
And yeah, I had been running without my Garmin the week before, which was great, but actually racing without it was not so pretty.
I had to laugh at your not even hitting snooze, just resetting the alarm! I have so been there!! I was able to get in a 4-mile run both Sat & Sun and they were great~ And not to intrude on above convo…lol….but I will probably cry the first time I hit double digits too! 🙂
We were running buddies and didn’t even know it this weekend. lol.
And you should cry, it’s an AMAZING feeling of accomplishment. Let me know when it happens 🙂
I went to a Food & Wine fest, failed utterly at a group ocean swim (“it’s ok, you guys don’t have to wait for me!”), and went to Disneyland. 😀
So much fun!
dang, you are kicking booty with Pile on the Miles!
LOL — I need the inspiration through the holidays!
you’re doing great for POTM- I need to step it up big time! Also so glad y’all got home safe, yesterday was scary up in the midwest
Thanks — it was pretty nasty! Seriously we were glad just to make it out. Sitting on the jetway with all the wind was NOT comforting.
We had a quiet weekend here…no running, just resting. My oldest spent the weekend with her Grandparents so it was just me and the little one since my hubby is away. Glad you had a great time visiting friends..it’s always good.
That weekends sounds PERFECT to me! I am going to need a relaxing weekend after this last one, ha.
Welcome back!
: ) Why thank you!
Oh you can totally get those 35.5 miles in twin! Definitely! I can’t remember what I did this weekend because all I’m thinking about is next weekend 😉 I’m fairly certain I got some running in, definitely eating, oh and a movie.
LOL your weekend sounds amazing lady 🙂
Good luck with your planz!
I couldn’t run this weekend while resting my knee, but I was happy to go through a MUCH needed yoga session. The instructor seemed to know what I needed, and I felt great afterwards!
Your body will thank you. I know it’s killing you, but your body WILL thank you. At some point in time, we all got old and are no longer invincible. It kind of sucks.
Speak for yourself! And get off my lawn!
LOL — too much.
My weekend consisted of sitting on the coach, reading, and playing video games. My excuse was being sick, though! I’ll have more to do next weekend!
I spent the weekend at Eagle Crest Resort with my parents and two of their friends. It’s such a beautiful place – one of my favorites. The only thing is, I had the murphy bed in the living area (only two bedrooms) which means I didn’t get much sleep. I’m a light sleeper so pretty much any noise woke me up (darn ice maker). However, I had a great time regardless and wish I could have stayed a couple more days. There are no street lights, there’s no internet, and there’s no expanded cable. Talk about a way to relax. 🙂
