The Perfect End to a Long Week

The perfect way to unwind from a long post-race week

An amazing Pumpkin ale bomber and movies.  Unfortunately, my Dogfish Pumpkin Ale wasn’t available anymore, but let me tell you, I am LOVING this brew. If you can find it, it’s expensive, but delish.  Totally worth a celebratory drink.

I haven’t been all relaxing and unwinding this afternoon  . .

I joined two challenges for this month:

Today is my rest day so I didn’t exactly want to log miles today, but I did walk one mile around the park during my lunch at work.  99 more miles to go for the month of November 🙂

And I failed to mention earlier that, because I like to go BIG, I also joined Piper’s Run in a 30 Day Thigh Challenge

For today I had to do

  • 5 lateral lunges (each side)
  • 10 scissors
  • 5 fire hydrants (each side)
  • 5 Pile Squat Pulses

Easy way to start this challenge, but you know it’s going to get tough.

And now, it’s time to continue drinking my hard earned pumpkin brew, and make my own version of a You Pick Two (for some reason, I am CRAVING Panera.  Who does that?)

An open face sandwich with cheddar cheese and roma tomatoes dressed in vinigerette and greens.  With a small salad very similar to my go-to meal this week.  Greens, quinoa, chicken and roasted onions and broccoli.   YUM.

Have a great Friday night all 🙂

Question of the Night:  What is your go-to meal that is easy and quick?

Friday Round Up Goodbye October

Into November and another Friday Round up to post! 🙂

Favorite Run

Can I count my half from Sunday?

photo

That would ABSOLUTELY be my favorite run of the week, if we can consider Sunday 🙂

Otherwise, I’d say my first run back post-race on Wednesday.  Yes it was on the treadmill, and yes I took it easy, but man it felt good!

Favorite Treat

This raspberry crumble bar from Gallop Cafe that Zach left for me as a surprise when I got home.  DELISH, and I may just have to get another for this weekend 😉

Favorite Eat

The delicious, homemade meal my neighbors made for me Wednesday night.  What a treat!  Baked chicken, quinoa and out of this WORLD brussel sprouts!

Favorite Moment

OFFICIALLY changing my last name :).  I have been wanting to do this for so long, and it was such a cool moment when it was actually done.

And unfortunately, I was a bad blogger this week and didn’t really have any exciting meals or much else fun food-wise to post!

A LOT of salads, quinoa, and chicken for this lady this week. Simple, but good!

Friday Favorites

  1. August and Gus: they have been SO sweet and affectionate these past couple of weeks with Zach traveling.  Being alone would have been TOTALLY different without them!
  2. My Parents:  Way to be by my side and be my number one cheerleaders this weekend, and always!  I wouldn’t have made it with out you :).
  3. thinkThin Creamy PB bars: Simple, I know…but I won a box of these and I have LOVED having them around.  Unfortunately I finished my last one today! Bumma…send me another box?
  4. Rock And Roll:  I have run two RnR halves, and they both have been VERY well organized and full of energy.  Way to be
  5. Simple salads: because this girl needs her nutrients but doesn’t want to cook for one all the time.  Yum.

That’s all from me 🙂 I’ll be back later this evening, as always 🙂

Question of the Afternoon: As always, one Friday Favorite today.

Happy November Workout Round Up

Happy November 1 everyone! 🙂

HappyNovember

I know I say this all the time, but how is it even possible that we are already so close to 2014?  2013 — slow down!  Let us enjoy your last two months please!

November Challenge

pile-on-the-miles-2013-logo

I joined in on Monica’s challenge during the month of November, Pile on the Miles.  In an attempt to motivate myself and everyone else to keep moving during this holiday season.

I made a LARGE goal of 100 miles, but it includes walking AND running…so Gusman may be a few extra long walks this morning to help keep those miles moving 🙂

Who’s gonna join me?

Workout Round Up

I’m pretty happy with how I stood true to my work out schedule this week.  It certainly wasn’t anything crazy, being the week after my race, but I completed each workout and even added a few little things here and there!

Here was my plan for the week:

  • Monday: Long walks with the furball and YOGA at home
  • Tuesday: 30 minutes bike and YOGA
  • Wednesday: 5k shake out run
  • Thursday: 5k shake out run
  • Friday: YOGA and rest
  • Saturday:  10k run
  • Sunday: Recovery — whatever’s needed.

And here’s how it shaped out:

  • Monday: 6 miles of walking with Gus and 45 minutes home yoga
  • Tuesday: 30 minutes bike, 15 minutes strength and stress relief yoga
  • Wednesday: 5k shake out run, plank work, and Yoga for runners
  • Thursday: 5k Speed work + plank work + new Travel WOD’s
  • Friday: YOGA and rest
  • Saturday: 10k run
  • Sunday: Recovery — whatever my body needs

Italicized because it’s still to be completed

I am actually really sore today, thanks to the speed work and travel WODS (hello muscle aches in SUCH A GOOD WAY). . .so I woke up this morning craving some YOGA.

Workout of the Morning: Seated Hatha YOGA.

My body is still a bit achy, but I have a hot date with my hot tub tonight, and possibly a walk with the Furball if it’s nice out when I get home.  Gotta stretch out and repair!

I’ll be back later today with my Friday Favorites 🙂

Question of the Morning: Any fun/funny Halloween stories?
