Caveau Wine Bar

I love weekends.  Specifically Saturday.

I always squeeze in a GREAT workout after my Friday rest day…then I get to relax and slow down to enjoy my afternoons.

And then when I get nights like tonight that I get to go out for a few hours and enjoy friends, that’s just perfect 🙂

My friend  Amanda from grad school (who ALSO just ran her first half marathon, AND is getting married next month),  got me out of the house for a few hours :).

We went to Caveau Wine Bar here in Denver, and enjoyed a couple glasses of happy hour Riesling as well as a split appetizer and entree.  Hello goat cheese and artichoke bruchetta and pizza.  YUM.

I wanted to enjoy the evening out with my friend, so I didn’t take any pictures while I was there…plus the lightly was poor.  But I definitely enjoyed my first experience at Caveau.  Sometimes a girls night out is exactly what you need.  Who am I kidding, it’s always what you need :).

Funny story though:  I took my wallet out of my purse this morning when I went grocery shopping after work.  I needed lunch, so I ran by Vitamin Cottage after my work out to get a sandwich.

The sandwich was delish..and totally worth the 599 cost.  I’d definitely do it again.

I wore my ski coat when I took Gus out for a walk this morning, because it was still cold and I wanted to chalk up some miles for my Pile on the Miles challenge this month.

Well…I wore a dressier coat to the bar tonight, and was running late when I walked out of the door for dinner tonight…

When the check came with dinner, and I reached into my purse. . . my wallet was missing.

Thankfully, Amanda is a great sport and laughed it off…and she drove me home (I walked the 2 miles there again to keep adding up the miles), and I got her money when she dropped me off.  Upps!

Thankfully I didn’t get ID’d!

November Challenges

I completed 11.13 miles between walks and my run this morning today (woot woot!)  so I’m up to 12.13 miles total for the Pile on the Miles.

And I also completed Piper’s 30 Thigh Challenge.  On the books today:

  • 8 lateral lunges
  • 15 scissors
  • 8 fire hydrants
  • 8 pile squat pulses

Done and done.  Loving these challenges so far.  Keeping me accountable.

And on top of that, I got bored this afternoon and tried another travel WOD.

  • 20 rounds of :
  • 5 squats
  • 5 push ups
  • 5 sit ups

Good lord I was a busy girl today.  Something tells me I may be sore tomorrow.  Woooof!

Happy Saturday All 🙂

And I Guess It’s Winter . . .

I woke up this morning and was fooled by the sunshine. . .

That’s not MY picture, but it is definitely how I felt this morning.

I could definitely see Gus and I’s breath and I wished right away that I had put on my gloves and ski coat before heading out.  I guess the Winter months really are upon us.

I should have taken Zach’s constant chatter and excitement about ski season as a hint. . . but he does that 12 months out of the year, so it’s nothing too out of the ordinary.

Anyway. . . because I’m a whimp, and I’m not training for anything at this point, the cold temps brought my run inside.

Workout of the Morning: Speedwork 10k + WOD

In order to justify moving indoors for my run, I decided that I would do some speed work to make it more challenging.  Here’s how it looked:

  • 2 miles warm up (with me stopping the treadmill at the mile marker…damn emergency button)
  • 4 sets of 800’s (@ 7.1-7.5 on the tread) with a 400 recovery in between (6.0-6.1)
  • 2 sets of 400’s (@ same speeds)
  • about half mile cool down at 6.5

For 6.2 miles.  To be honest I have no idea what my time was. . . I was so happy to get off that machine that I didn’t care.

When I was finished with my run, I grabbed a big glass of water than pulled out my travel WODS and tried another one out for size:

Invisible Fran

  • 21, 15, 9 sets
  • squats
  • push ups

I finished in about 2:53…but my legs and arms were cashed.  Real push ups are hard you guys.

Then I decided I wanted to do some core work, so I did sit ups to exhaustion…and only got to about 45 without starting to break form.   Room to grow, right?  Full sit ups are hard too, without somebody holding your feet down, lol.

And now, I’m pooped.  But I haven’t forgotten about Piper’s  Challenge!!

For now:
