Weekly Round Up

Happy Saturday 🙂

I worked a half day yesterday so I managed to squeeze in a nice little 3 mile hike after work.  Perfect little afternoon pick me up.   Zach finished up some work and I relaxed around the house until about 430 when we went out for date night, including a couple stops for drink and GREAT sushi.  Perfect equation for this girl 🙂  I’ll get to that more later, but for now, let’s talk about my work outs for the week.

plus a tough run this morning. . .

Nothing over the top by itself but overall a good mix of cardio, strength, and yoga with active recovery.  I’ll take it.  Zach and I have a relay race we’re participating in in a couple weeks, so our work outs will likely start looking a little lighter while we taper.

Plus some pictures from Date night

I was VERY excited by some new-to-me work outs this week that have left me sore in a way I never experienced before.  Sure, it has hurt my legs enough to make running a bit challenging, but oh man am I loving the burn!

And for this weekend, I’ve got some slopes to him 🙂 ❤ And possibly another short run, we’ll see how the legs feel.

And some sweets!

I’ve loved ending my  nights with cookies and chocolate covered pretzels this week.  YUM!  I think tonight is calling for some GOOD quality dark chocolate and red wine.  Doesn’t that sound amazing?

Goal of the week: Walking Gus at Night

I’m going to go ahead and call this one a semi-win/semi fail.

photo 2-49

It’s a semi win because I have gotten Gusman out for a good 20 minute walk at the end of every night.  This has really helped me to move around a bit and speed up that dinner digestion 🙂

I’m going to call it a semi-fail because only one night was it AFTER dessert.  Each night it started getting later and later before I started dessert, and the ol’ boy needed out.  So, we went on our walk and THEN I enjoyed my dinner.

With that said, I did stick to my portioned out dessert, and never once went back for more.  So that in itself is a semi-win, right?

This is something I want to KEEP working on — especially as the weather gets nicer and the days get longer.

Question of the Afternoon:  Tell me about your week — in 3 words or less 🙂

Friday Round Up!

Good Morning and Happy Friday everyone! 🙂  Another weeks in the books, which for me means another week closer to Spring (I’m sorry babe. . . I love skiing too but I’m just over it).

Last night was a special date night for us little Jara’s. . . that ended in comped drinks and dessert for our anniversary.   That’s never a bad thing in my books . . . I’ll be back with a full review later today but here’s a tease.

Yes. . . drool.

This Morning

Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly hopping out of bed this morning after a couple comped drinks. . . but I found the motivation somewhere deep and got’er done.

Workout of the Day: 3.5 mile run in 31 minutes + walk it out until 35 minutes + 2 minute plank

For today’s run I did 10 minutes of easy warm up, followed by a progressive run continuing to increase the speed every minute on the minute until I hit 8.0, which had me right at 28 minutes.  I ran her in until 3.5 when I walked it out until I hit 35 minutes.  I followed up the run with one minute push up plank and one minute forearm plank.  Left me nice and sweaty…

  • Tuesday: 15 minute NTC app + stretching + walk at lunch + 60 minute Yoga 2/3 class.
  • Wednesday: 2 a day :3.5 mile treadmill run AM 3.0 mile run with Zach PM

Not a shabby week if you ask me.  I’m happy with the balance of different work outs, although next week I hope to integrate a little more strength training in.

Not too much – but some good stuff. . . lemme tell ya.  I’m really working on taking pictures of food and finding ways to make them look photogenic.  The last of light is killing me.  Any tips people have, please send them my way!

Have a great Friday everyone!  I’ll be back later with our date recap 🙂
