Zach and I left at 5:55 PM Tuesday from Denver to North Carolina
We got to the airport with plenty of time, so we hung out at the new restaurant in the C Concourse of DIA, Root Down (same chain from downtown) where we grabbed a few “were on vacation” drinks and shared a caesar salad.
Our flight was bumpy, but SUPER easy and we made it to North Caolina with no problem.
Wednesday the family spent time, primarily boys with the boys and girls with the girls. Â I started the morning with a 5 mile treadmill run (North Carolina is FREEZING!) and then spent the afternoon chatting and catching up with the Jaras. Â Perfect
We ended the night with Mexican food and Margaritas, with a side of Modern Family for dessert. Â Perfect.
Thanksgiving Morning started with a 10k run on the treadmill in the AM (still cold) while watching the Macy’s day parade. Â I had to make food for all the delicious food that was coming my way.
We had homemade, SINFULLY delicious sticky buns for breakfast, with a side of healthy fruit, OF COURSE.
Zach and I were treated like royalty and literally relaxed and snacked the entire morning/afternoon. Â Snacking on cheese and crackers, watching football, drinking wine and just enjoying everyone’s company.
Dinner was served about 430 and let me tell you, maybe it was all the love that was put into the food, but it was one of the best Thanksgiving meals any of us had remember having in a long time.
I really don’t know what the highlight was for me…I tend to blend bites together with meals like this. Â So the greens with the juicy turkey may have been my favorite, but that stuffing was pretty excellent. Â Ahhhhh it was all good.
When dinner was finished, my sister in law was in the mood to run  (crazy after a meal and wine, I know) and nobody wanted to go with her.  So, being the great sister-in-law (read a little wine happy) that I am, I agreed to go with her.
Yup, 4.5 miles about 15 minutes after finishing dinner. Â That may have provoked some cookie tossing desires, but we survived and actually had a GREAT time on the run. Â We weren’t running for speed, but we chatted it up and had ourselves a great time. Â Yeah it was dark and cold, but we laughed and talked more on this run than I probably ever have. Â I’m ok with that :). Â That’s 10.5 miles for THIS GIRL on Thanksgiving :). Â Make room leftovers!
By the time the ladies returned from our run, it was dessert and game time. Â Oh yeah, things got a bit wild with Name 5…if you haven’t played it, find it and play with two large teams. Â It’s a blast.
We played 3 rounds of Name 5 and one round of Ugly Sweater before calling it a night close to midnight. Â I was SUPER impressed that we all made it as late as we did.
Friday Morning
We all woke up a little slower and later than our previous mornings today. . . sipped on some coffee, and decided to head out to Duke trails for a HILLY, chilly, 5k jaunt.
I think my lungs almost burst out of my chest at one point. . . but I survived and and now ready to eat some late breakfast, relax with the family until CATCHING FIRE TONIGHT!
FINALLY! 🙂
Hoep you all had an AMAZING Thanksgiving as well!
Pile On The Miles Update
That leaves me at 115 miles for the month of November!! I made it to my POTM goal – and more! Â I have to say, my family here has helped to push me over the edge for this tail end of the challenge and I couldn’t be happier. Â I’ve got some grand ideas to continue this running streak… stay tuned!
Question of the Day: Â What was the highlight of your holiday?
Family time…fo sho.
