Oh Whata Night

Phew!  What an evening . . .

This was the evening of distractions, all beginning with Zach’s call at 730 letting me know his flight from Chicago was officially cancelled.  But, my stubborn boy was bound and determined to get home.  He managed to find a flight leaving O’hare at 851 local time to Colorado Springs.  Thankfully, he had enough time to run to the gate and get on — with the plane leaving just about 25 minutes late.

The conditions in Denver were expected to be pretty bad.  Let’s just say they were bad, but could have been worse.  I was a little more concerned than normal for Zach’s flight, so I distracted myself with lots of yoga, TV,  a late dinner, LOTS of chips, TV and a good chunk of the huge cookie I made last night.

Even better. . .

At about 1115 I got the call from Zach that he had made it into Colorado Springs, had met a guy on the flight who he was going to rent a car with and drive into the city together.  The fact that he had a buddy made me feel a little better, so at this point I was finally able to catch a bit of sleep until he got in around 1 AM.

At that point I was so exhausted but RELIEVED that he made it home.  We had a bit more of the cookie (yes, at 1 AM) and then went to bed, hopeful for a snow day.

Unfortunately, no snow day this morning. . . so it was routine as normal.  Wake up at 6 AM to head to the gym — but at least I switched up the work out!

Workout of the day:  Bootcamp run

  • 1 mile run
  • 20 incline sit ups
  • 20 chest press (30 lbs)
  • repeat 3 times
  • 3 sets of:
  • 20 incline sit ups
  • 20 rows (30 lbs)
  • 20 leg press (50 lbs)
  • plus an extra set of 20 incline sit ups

This was a GREAT way to switch up my routine and still get some cardio in!

Alright everyone — one more day of work stands between me and our honeymoon!!!

Flight Cancelled = Big Cookie

Hello Denver storm!

Unfortunately, Zach’s flight was cancelled tonight :(.  Whomp whomp.  To say I’ve been stressed out today would be a bit of an understatement.  The poor guy has been working his tail off and is exhausted.   Sure I miss him crazy style, but really I just want that boy to get home and finally be able to rest!

The good news:  he is currently waiting to board a flight to Colorado Springs for tonight. . . possibly staying with family OR driving to Denver from the Springs, depending on weather.

Everyone send him safe travel vibes, OK?

When I get frustrated. . .

I bake.

Yes that is a giant cast iron skillet cookie — I was inspired earlier in the week by a post on a fellow (and AWESOME blogger) Sarah @ SweetMiles.  Of course, I made some healthifying tweeks. . . but BOY does it smell delicious.  I’ll be sharing the recipe, after I sample it of course (and you know I’ll be eating plenty as I eat my frustrations tonight ;).

That’s all I have for you all tonight.   I leave you drooling and hopefully sending the boy lots of safe travel vibes!

Feelin’ Good

You know, I’ve heard many times lately that you don’t know how bad you feel until you start feeling better.  Well let’s just say I am feeling good today and SO thankful for that!   I think a few nights of relaxing, yoga, and a week of good eating have treated me well and my body is seemingly happy again.  Perfect timing 🙂

Last night’s Whole Foods bowl was just another repeat (yes, 3 days in a row now.  I’m sorry I’m not sorry).

Enjoyed while watching some Real World Ex-plosion . . . don’t judge.

This Morning

It’s a pretty overcast morning here in Denver, so my extra hour of sleep didn’t quite feel like the normal hour that it is. . . but with that said I still got up feeling rested and ready for a recovery run after yesterday’s speed work + 30 minute workout.

Workout of the day: Progressive run

  • Start at 6.3 on the treadmill and increased the speed every song until about 4 miles
  • Finish four miles and walk it out until 40 minutes

Easy peasy and just what the doctor ordered.

I know this is a short one, but we need to get into work a little earlier than normal today so I gotta run!  Have a great Thursday everyone — send good weather vibes Zach’s way so that he makes it home tonight!  He’s currently on his plane from Heathrow to Chicago but the weather in Denver is supposed to pretty nasty tonight. . . fingers crossed!

Question of the Morning:  What’s something that you could eat 3 days in a row and not be sick of it at all?
