Weekly Round Up

Happy Saturday 🙂

I worked a half day yesterday so I managed to squeeze in a nice little 3 mile hike after work.  Perfect little afternoon pick me up.   Zach finished up some work and I relaxed around the house until about 430 when we went out for date night, including a couple stops for drink and GREAT sushi.  Perfect equation for this girl 🙂  I’ll get to that more later, but for now, let’s talk about my work outs for the week.

Workouts For the Week

3 runs

a

  • 3.5 miler in Breck
  • 4.8 miler with hill repeats
  • 3 miler for the workout that wasn’t

3 yoga classes

3 short morning yoga routines at home

and

3 lunch walks

plus a tough run this morning. . .

Nothing over the top by itself but overall a good mix of cardio, strength, and yoga with active recovery.  I’ll take it.  Zach and I have a relay race we’re participating in in a couple weeks, so our work outs will likely start looking a little lighter while we taper.

Plus some pictures from Date night

Just to tide you over 🙂

Have a great Sunday everyone!

What was your favorite work out this week?

Weekly Round-Up — Go With The Flow

If I had to set a theme for my work outs this week, it would definitely be Go With The Flow.

Our week here in the Jara casa has been plagued with a random monsoon rain pattern, BIG news, a whonky gut  and visitors, so my working out has had to be squeezed in where it can fit.  Thankfully, I feel OK about what I was able to accomplish considering the circumstances.

Two Yoga Classes

I made it to two hot yoga classes that challenged me physically and mentally in a way that I hadn’t been in awhile.  Thank you for reminding me how much the heat opens up these cranky joints, CPW!

3 runs

If we’re including Sunday, I got in three good runs including

  • Sunday: 3 miler hill/speed work
  • Monday 6.4 miler (60 minute run)
  • Thursday Morning 5 miler

2 Lunch Walks

photo (1).jpg

I have a 2 mile route that I like to take on days where I can squeeze out of the office, and this week I was able to do that 2 out of the 4 days.

Two Strength Routines

  • One Day of Arms (30 minutes)
  • One day of Abs (6 week 6 pack)

One Morning Yoga Routine

  • 20 minute Yoga With a View Detox routine

One Quick Bike Ride

Probably 4 ish miles round trip — but man it was hilly (and ended with beer)

So like I said, all in all, not bad.  I’ve been trying to get 60 minutes in each work day, and then being more flexible with myself over the weekends.  We’ve had lots of visitors so I’ve wanted to make sure I have plenty of time to enjoy with them.

And a Few Good Eats

Friday Round Up!

Good Morning and Happy Friday everyone! 🙂  Another weeks in the books, which for me means another week closer to Spring (I’m sorry babe. . . I love skiing too but I’m just over it).

Last night was a special date night for us little Jara’s. . . that ended in comped drinks and dessert for our anniversary.   That’s never a bad thing in my books . . . I’ll be back with a full review later today but here’s a tease.

Yes. . . drool.

This Morning

Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly hopping out of bed this morning after a couple comped drinks. . . but I found the motivation somewhere deep and got’er done.

Workout of the Day: 3.5 mile run in 31 minutes + walk it out until 35 minutes + 2 minute plank

For today’s run I did 10 minutes of easy warm up, followed by a progressive run continuing to increase the speed every minute on the minute until I hit 8.0, which had me right at 28 minutes.  I ran her in until 3.5 when I walked it out until I hit 35 minutes.  I followed up the run with one minute push up plank and one minute forearm plank.  Left me nice and sweaty…

It’s Friday which means time for a round up 🙂

Workouts

  • Monday: 3.3 mile run with the hubby + 15 minute abs
  • Tuesday: 15 minute NTC app + stretching + walk at lunch + 60 minute Yoga 2/3 class.
  • Wednesday: 2 a day :3.5 mile treadmill run AM 3.0 mile run with Zach PM
  • Thursday: Rest day: 2.13 mile walk with the pup
  • Friday: 3.5 mile run + .25 mile walk and plank work

And then this weekend’s plan are:

Not a shabby week if you ask me.  I’m happy with the balance of different work outs, although next week I hope to integrate a little more strength training in.

Not too much – but some good stuff. . . lemme tell ya.  I’m really working on taking pictures of food and finding ways to make them look photogenic.  The last of light is killing me.  Any tips people have, please send them my way!

Have a great Friday everyone!  I’ll be back later with our date recap 🙂
