Two Routines Friday

Ok — I say it every week.  But I make no apologies — HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE 🙂 Once again, this week has seemingly flown by on my side.  Which I never complain about {well. . . maybe besides the fact that I have no idea where the time goes anymore, but I’ll save that for a different post}

Last Night

With Thursday being my late day, the first thing Zach and I did when we got home was get started on dinner.  photo 1

We made Veggie Quesadillas, to which I made mine BBQ with a small side salad and pretzel thins.

To make the quesadilla, I simply put carrot shavings, mushrooms, some Anaheim peppers in a pan with bbq just to heat up, then added fresh tomatoes, and peppercinnis.

They were DELICIOUS and I already want the same.exact.meal tomorrow.

I had a special treat at the end of the night as well . . .

photo 2

Sorry for the dark pictre — but I had the BEST ice cream in the world.  It’s just a Safeway mint chocolate moose tracks, with a fresh cookie.

I don’t have this kind of treat very often — especially when we have an entire pint, because I CANT BE STOPPED.

I had this small cup, plus another small cup of the ice cream + one spoonful.  I’m a monster!

Thankfully I had gone on a walk to help move dinner around so I didn’t feel too rough — but man oh man.  Portion control Ashley!

This Morning

I woke up this morning a little weighed down by the ice cream, but ready to move after a good rest day.

My work out started with another 22 minute cardio routine from SELF, that had me right at 2.55 miles in 22 minutes.

I then jumped into my favorite hill and sprint routine

photo 4

Which I did modify a bit (just shorter warm up and cool down since I had already done the previous routine).

photo 3

I finished right around 46:30 and walked it out until 50 minutes for 5.16 miles total.  I was a SWEATY mess but felt AWESOME!

Now it’s time to enjoy some yogurt and frozen grapes and get to work!

Question of the Morning:What is one dessert you can’t control yourself on?

Date Night

I love Thursday mornings 🙂 ❤

It’s my rest day AND I get to sleep in.  That combo is pretty spectacular in this girls book 🙂  But let’s backtrack to yesterday, shall we?

Workout of the Day

I know I spoke to how I wasn’t feeling 100% myself yesterday, primarily battling with feeling like a slug. . . but I think the primary (not only, but primary) culprit was just a lack of calories.  Once I ate a few extra calories in a PB granola bar, and drank sone Nuun, I honestly felt like a new person, ready to tackle an awesome work out.

aaaaaaaaa.jpg

I seriously felt like such an energizer bunny after this work out, I think Zach thought I was crazy.

aaaaaaaa.jpg

I started with a 22 minute cardio work out that I found in the recent SELF magazine.  For the jog, I used 6.0.  For the sprint I used 9.5-9.7 (ouch), for the recovery I used 3.5 and for the warm up and cool down I used 3.7 with incline.

After I finished the twenty two minutes I was right at 2.5 miles.  I decided to do a bit more running just to get it above 3, so I ran until 30 minutes where I finished right around 3.32 miles total.

I hit the heavier weights (for me) and did lower reps with the higher weight for a few minutes of high impact lighting (again, for me).

aaaaaa.jpg

Finished off by a 5 minute plank series.

Honestly – -I finished this work out so pumped and feeling a million times better than I had been all day.  Nothing like a good sweat fest sometimes. . .

Date Night

Zach’s Red Wings were on TV, so we watched the first period as I got ready, and then headed to one of our favorite local spots Amato’s Ale House  to eat and watch the rest of the game.

We started with a caesar salad

That Zach thought was pretty weak overall but I thought was just fine.  Not overly dressed, simple and fresh.

And I got the hummus platter as my entree, which I also shared with Zach. YUM.  The hummus was sundried tomato and was AWESOME.

This was plenty of food to keep us busy through the game along with some good beer and great company.

We were home at a descent hour (I love living in the mountains where sports are always an hour or two earlier than we’re used to) and attempted to watch an episode of SIx Feet Under while we ate dessert but we both fell asleep.  Upps

This Morning

I got a good 10+ hours of sleep last night and I think that was more of my body telling me it did need a little extra rest.  The weather is pretty nasty here in Denver today so I didn’t get a good walk with Gus this morning like I usually do on Thursday mornings.

a

I spent a few minutes this morning getting a good stretch in and plan on doing some more through out the day to balance out this rest day.  As little movement as possible, that’s the plan 🙂 ❤

Now, it’s time to wrap things up, get some coconut water and head to work.  Woot!

April Fools Day

Did anybody have any good pranks that they played or that they got played on them today?

April Fools is also my cousin’s birthday, so I grew up celebrating him on April 1st, but I know I’ve heard some pretty killer April Fools stories that always  make me laugh :).

Workout Last Night

Just as I promised in yesterday’s post, I managed to get myself a great workout in yesterday after work.

photo 4

I left work and hit the park near our offices right at 5 PM.  The sun was still out and the temps were perfect, unfortunately the wind was KILLER and provided quite the challenge for my treadmill trained legs.

photo 1

I started the workout with a quick but very hilly 5k that gave my legs just enough time to remind myself how hard I had skied the weekend before.  I finished in just over 29 minutes and moved on to the next stage of my workout.

photo 2

Hill sprints.  I did about .10 mile of a hill (short but killer) SPRINTING, then would walk down.  X5.

My pace for the sprints held right around 6:30, which I was pretty impressed with considering the hill and wind.

By the time I was done, my legs were CASHED and I was ready to relax and eat a good dinner.

Dinner

photo 1 (1)

We had a fairly simple, but healthy dinner planned for the evening.  Salads with chicken cutlets and sourdough toast.

photo 2 (1)

Simple, but delicious and totally hit the spot.  My salad was a medly of goodies: spring mix greens, sundried tomatoes, peppercinnis, mushrooms.  Delish.

I ended the evening with a delicious cookie, once again 🙂 ❤

photo 3

Minus the chocolates.

This Morning

I woke up sore as crud and exhausted, but knew I needed to get a good workout, so I hit the gym and the weights for a tabata style workout.

photo 4 (1)

I warmed up with a little bit of incline walking, followed by the 13 minute tabata set.

photo 3

Then repeat.  I followed it all up with some incline sit ups and ab work and am now sufficiently exhausted and sore.

Happy Tuesday 🙂
