Good Morning — And Happy Sun Shining Thursday everyone 🙂

photo 3-33

Gusman and I started our morning like we have been for the past few weeks.  A nice hilly walk through the highlands neighborhood enjoying the sunshine.

Well, I enjoyed the sunshine while Gus enjoyed the millions of fun smells ALL AROUND.  {anyone elses dog feel the need to stop and smell EVERY.SINGLE.THING on EVERY.SINGLE.STEP of EVERY.WALK?}

Today’s was a simple 2+ mile walk, but by the time I got back home and to our four flights of stairs, my legs were done.  I think the pilates + short run yesterday was just enough to make me appreciate my rest day.

Last Night

I was extremely thankful for a {very} understanding husband yesterday.  He was fully willing to cook a great dinner while I did my pilates AND even snuck out for another 20  minutes for a quick run.

Unfortunately — I was still fairly full from my veggie PACKED lunch, so I was only able to eat half of one quesadilla

But MAN they were delicious.  I’m almost tempted to ask him to make them again tonight 😉

Perfect grill marks on those tortillas, am I right?

I ended the evening with a raspberry bar from Cheryl’s but  once again my dessert escaped the camera.  I promise you I will get better about this, but I think I just get too excited about the goodies that the camera just escapes my mind. . . the power of sweets.

At this point Zach and I, blissfully, have no plans for the evening.  It’s my late day at work so I won’t be home until closer to 7, but the idea of relaxing and taking it easy sounds pretty darn appealing right about now.

Question of the Morning:  Have you made any  new routines lately?  What are you loving about your routine lately?

A Snuggly Kinda Night

Last night was a snuggly night here in the Jara household

photo 3-22

Yes, my 70 lb shepherd thinks he is a lap dog. . . and I am A-OK with that sometimes :).  Maybe he was thanking me for the long walk enjoying the warm-ish evening…or he was just trying to hide his eyes from the awful TV that I was watching (I’m almost TOO ashamed to admit to this today, but Real World EX-Plosion and Teen Mom.  Please don’t stop reading . . . ).

Dinner last night was another meal-for-one thanks to grocery shopping at my local Whole Foods hot/salad bar for produce 🙂

BBQ Chicken Quesadillas

  • 4 oz of chicken, precooked
  • 2 small-ish tortillas
  • 1/4 of sweet potato
  • 1 tablespoon of corn
  • 1 tablespoon of green onions
  • 1 small handful of spinach
  • 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese
  • tablespoon of bbq sauce and oil to cook

  • Heat your pan on medium high with a tablespoon of BBQ sauce
  • Once the pan is heated, add the chicken to cover and heat
  • Add the rest of your ingredients into the mixture
  • In another pan, prepare your pan with oil and put down first tortilla and fill it with your fillings from the other pan
  • Cook until browned and then add the second tortilla and flip it
  • Cook until that side is browned
  • Take off the heat, cut into quarters and enjoy!

I of course had a small side of greens with a ton of salsa to top the quesadilla with a couple Whole Food’s chips.

Unfortunately, for Gus, I did not share with him.  This one was all for ME 🙂

And you know I didn’t enjoy the evening without a treat right?  I brought back an oldie but SUPER goodie.

Unfortunately one little plate was not how much I ended up eating. . . sad but true.  I have no self comtrol.

This Morning

I woke up this morning and enjoyed another long walk with Gusman.  I’m trying out taking Thursday’s as my rest days because I already get to sleep in, and it’s perfect to get a nice hilly walk with Gus in the AM to stretch my legs.

I didn’t use my MapMyRun app on this one, but it was our standard 2.1 mile loop.  He seemed to enjoy it 🙂 Perfect amount of snow and ice still left on the sidewalks for him to snatch up.

And now, it’s time to get back to work and get through the long day!  Happy Thursday everyone 🙂

Question of the Morning:  Do you like snuggly pets?

Work Out Round Up – September 20

Happy Friday All 🙂

Can I just say, how good did that sushi from Sushi Hai look last night?

Oh delicious.

But some sad news from last night . . .

Zach and I finished the last of the wedding cake last night.  I’m kind of sad. . . rest in piece cake.  You were unbelievably delicious.

Moving on . . .

I made it through my first full week back at work after the wedding (well. . . I still have to get through the day today, but I did make it through waking up and getting here,  That’s definitely the hardest part 🙂

I slept in this morning and allowed myself to have a glorious rest day.

I haven’t had a FULL rest day since the Sunday after  the Wedding, so I think my body was craving it.  Who am I to deny THAT? 🙂

This Weekend

Zach and I have no real plans for the weekend, which is pretty wonderful.

After months and months of craziness, crazy traveling in October, and the holiday’s quickly approaching, I LOVE the quiet weekends.  Things we do have planned:

  • hair cut tonight for this lady
  • long run for me/volunteering for zach Saturday morning
  • shopping with some of our wedding gift cards Sunday

We also mentioned hanging out downtown Saturday afternoon — but we’ll see how we feel 🙂

Work out Round Up

My plan for the week looked like this:

  • Monday – 10 miles stationary bike + 75 minute yoga class
  • Tuesday – 4 -5 miles treadmill/outside weather depending
  • Wednesday – Strength training
  • Thursday 4-5 miles treadmill/outside EASY weather depending
  • Friday – rest day/2 miles treadmill/yoga
  • Saturday – LONG run
  • Sunday – recovery

And my actual activity so far has looked like:

  • Monday — 10  miles stationary bike + 75 minute yoga class
  • Tuesday: 4 miles hills outside
  • Wednesday – Strength training
  • Thursday: 4 miles easy run on the treadmill
  • Friday: REST — PLANNING on a walk during my lunch.
  • LAST Saturday – 10.37 treadmill miles
  • LAST SUNDAY – 5k on the treadmill , 10 miles on the bike

And of course, I have a long run planned for THIS Saturday and recovery planned for Sunday.

I’m pretty happy with how the week turned out as far as work outs go.  For whatever reason I have this feeling like I didn’t do THAT much — but that is probably just my brain playing tricks on me 🙂

Question of the Morning:  What was your favorite work out this week?

I would say my hill run outside.  It was TOUGH, but I pushed through and felt like an animal after 🙂
