My Newest Obsession and a Slow Run

I have found my NEWEST obsession attempting to tame my sweet tooth . . .

pretzles

Peanut Butter Crunch Pretzel crips.  Get them now.  And just a recommendation, get two bags.  At least that’s what I did this morning on my stop to Whole Foods to replenish my supply.  Best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life . . .

Moving on . . . I didn’t only eat peanut butter pretzels last night (although I would have been happy to).  On the menu were open face sandwiches on fresh bread with side salads.

The sammies included romaine lettuce, fresh roma tomatoes, grilled bacon and cheddar cheese on a seedy/garlicy loaf.

The salad was a simple salad of romaine and pico, but it hit the spot!

August agreed. . . she wanted in on the action last night . . .

This Morning

The streak continued with a very easy and slow 40 minute run this morning.

40 minutes with one minute of walking at the end.  I’m going to be honest, I am NOT good at doing “easy” pace runs on the treadmill.  Because I get so board, I actually ENJOY speed work but my body is starting to get a little run down from all the hard (for me) runs I’ve been throwing in lately.

I may have a post coming later on the subject of the importance of easy runs, just saying ;).

Anybody try the PB pretzel crisps?  Are you obsessed?  What are you obsessed with today?

Weekly Food and Workout Round Up August 9, 2013

Good Morning and HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE 🙂

Since Friday’s are generally my rest days, and the lead in to the weekend, I figured I could use Friday mornings as my time to recap the highlights, and lowlights, of my food and work outs for the week.

Since food is my favorite, let’s start with that.

Food Highlights

Meals

Homemade Pizza, and last nights tomato and moz salad. The warm, flavorful pizza went perfectly with the fresh, cool salad!

Open face sammies, toast, or really anything that came from that amazing farmer’s market bread.

Chicken quesadilla from the Food Truck at Denver Brew Co. Probably the best I’ve ever had.

My girls night dinner!  Wine, snacks, and pulled pork.  Y-U-M-M-O.

And a surprisingly fresh salad from Sprouts, our local grocery store.

Favorite Snacks

Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies.  They were our treat through the week and they were AMAZING

My first shot at Peanut Butter Granola .  Unfortunately I’m finishing it off as we speak.

The Garretts popcorn from our lovely Chicago Friends.

The cake from Ladies Night…doesn’t look good, but my god that Key Lime was to die for.

LowLights

I got this scone yesterday as a quick breakfast after our final walk through, and honestly didn’t even eat a quarter of it.  It’s from Starbucks, and there were honestly probably 4 blueberries in the whole thing.  Total Disappointment.

They were out of my favorite Wallaby granola this morning, so I had to go back to my yoplait, sugar bomb unfortunately.  Really doesn’t taste bad, just does nothing for my hunger.

I’m hungry just looking at all that. YUM.

Workouts for the Week

I was able to stay pretty darn true to my workouts for the week this week, as planned, which always makes me feel good 🙂

  • Monday’s outdoor run – 5.7 miles
  • Tuesday’s strength day
  • Wednesday’s Speed treadmill run – 4.76 miles
  • Thursday’s 60 minute stationary bike ride (20 miles)

Pretty good!  Today is my rest day, and then tomorrow I have a 90 minute run planned.  As always, I’m a bit anxious for it, but hopeful that I can push through 🙂  I had some strong work outs this week, so I’m happy about that!

Question of the Day:  How were your workouts this week?  Any long run planned this weekend?

I Have The Best Groom Ever.

Honestly, I don’t know how I talked this guy into being my husband — but one thing I do know is I hit the jackpot with this groom!

Before I get to his pure awesomeness I just want to point out how crazy my peanut butter tooth has been today:

Everything peanut butter within reach has gone straight in my belly (Said in Fat Bastard voice).

And I’m now eyeing some peanut butter chocolate.  I feel like this girl (love her…i feel like we should be bffs) Restraint with the PB Ashley!

Once again, moving on:

Zach: The World’s Greatest Groom

I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I’m thankful that I did.

Ever since we got engaged about 15 months ago, Zach has been beyond supportive, excited, and interested in wedding planning.  Honestly, he has made me ENJOY wedding planning, and given me the opportunity to soak up ever second of being a fiance.

engagement

(we got engaged after a long run and bike ride, hence why I look like poop. He knew what he was doing, so he showered.  I didn’t. Even when he asked to me shower, I didn’t.   Don’t judge… it was the best day ever, and  I’ll give the full engagement story a different time).

Zach has an amazing eye and found our venue in no time once we made it to Denver.

Boettcher Mansion

Zach was all about going to every vendor preview we needed to in order to find the perfect photographerfood, cake, band, everything.

cake

(Not our cake, but I really like it)

Zach has been there to design the save the dates, invites, programs, place cards, everything stationary.

save the date

(not our save the date, but that’s the design with a different date and minor color changes)

Zach became our primary financial adviser and took it upon himself to make an excell spread sheet and follow along with our spending vs. budget.

budget

And as of recently, as we’re hitting the home stretch, Zach has taken on most all of the mundane projects that haunt the final weeks of wedding planning.  Setting up final walk throughs, vendor meetings, hotel blocks, shuttle.  Everything.

And tonight,  Zach is taking it upon himself to take his work computer out, finalize guest counts, seating arrangements(YIKES) , and contact vendors, just so I can enjoy much needed girls night.

So, this is why I have the most amazing Groom in the world.  He has made being a bride the dream every girl hopes it will be. And to be honest, I couldn’t be more excited to marry this man.  31 days and counting!

Thank you, Babe.  Love you more than you  know!
