Do You DO What You Pin?

So I’ve expressed to you all that I’m fairly new to much of the social media scene.

Sure, I’ve had my personal facebook page since college (back in the day it was THE facebook, when you posted your classes, and it was ONLY for college students).  But it wasn’t until the blog that I got into twitter and pinterest, I just made a blog facebook page, and I am still waiting to get a smart phone to join instagram.

But thanks to the blog and you all, I feel like I’m learning, slowly but surely.  And last night was a big step for me.

My first attempt at a pinterest baking “pin” since I started the blog :).

I’m going to save the recipe for you until all Zach and I actually try it tonight — but for now I’ll give you a teaser shot:

While I was baking last night, I got to thinking – – I’ve never actually tried to bake anything that I’ve pinned.

I did use pinterest to help find inspiration for my wedding — colors, styles, hair-do, bridesmaid dresses.  I’ve even used it for cleaning tricks (I microwaved a bowl of vinegar and water for 5 minutes, and then wiped down our microwave to clean it before we moved last year.  Worked like a charm, stuff came right off).

But baking — I hadn’t actually used it yet.

I’ve heard of pinterest fail (and certainly gotten a few laughs from it.  NAILED IT) — and knew that a lot of people find what they pin a little more challenging in practice than in pictures.  And to be honest, I was a little afraid, myself, that I would “fail” if I attempted any.  So since I started my “pinterest,” my baking board has been more of a dream board.

Well that all changed last night and I’m excited about it!  I am making a vow to myself to use it as inspiration and try things that I wouldn’t otherwise.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t bake exactly what I pinned.  I used it as a starting point, and made it my own.  But I think that’s great,.  I still got my inspiration from the pin, and hopefully made something delicious from it.  Talk about finding inspiration, and now I can’t wait to try a lot more!  Sometimes I love social media 🙂

So I guess I’m asking you all. . .

Has anyone else not “used” their pinterest boards?  Or do you have a board that is more of a dream than reality?

And please! Follow me on any of the networks (twitter , facebook & pinterest)!   < — I love feeling connected to you all 🙂

You all remember I went to a blog class last week, right?  Ready to listen and learn — excited for an opportunity to improve my blog, my writing, and really myself.

This has nothing to do with the class — but seriously how cute does Zach look? Doesn’t he look ready to study?

One of the major things I took away from that class is the importance of utilizing social networking tools.

  • twitter
  • pinterest
  • instagram

Now — I’m the first to admit that I am far from tech savy.  The blog has really helped to expand my experiences and force me to begin using these toold — but I am FAR from a pro.

I am currently on:

Edited to add:  I made a Chocolatemedals Facebook page after all the great advice I already got!! Thanks so much everyone for your advice — not everyone feel free to LIKE it 🙂

Unfortunately I don’t have a smart phone, so instragram is out for the time being.  (Seriously, how out of the loop am I?)

So — now I need YOUR help!

The class completely inspired me to reach out to these other social networks and become more involved — but I’m still a newbie.  Anyone who wants to be my friend, PLEASE click the above links, or the links on the side bars of my page,  and we can have TONS of fun on these other networks and be BFFs forever 🙂

And of course — I’m reaching out to any of you that ARE tech savy — any tips/idea/connections/thoughts, ANYTHING you have for me, I am HAPPY to hear it.   Please and Thank you! 🙂  Comments or email @

This little blog and all you readers are really important to me, and I’d love to make this little passion of mine the best it can be! WIth your help, of course 😉

Question of the Day: What is your favorite social networking site?

WordPress 🙂

Inspiration, Direction, and the NEXT big thing.

Do you ever feel like you’ve been on the go for so long. . . that when you have a second to sit and process, you feel a little lost?

That is exactly where I find myself, right now.

In 2008, I graduated from Undergrad and jumped straight into my Graduate program at Saint Louis University

Love these girls. . . still miss you!!

I met Zach during my time at SLU and knew that right when when I graduated, I’d be moving to Chicago to be with him.

A picture from Switzerland — my parents graduation gift to me for graduating Grad School

About 6 months after I moved to Chicago, we thought that even living in different apartments was for the birds, and decided that once we were finished with our current leases we would move in together.  Enter house hunting, and the anxiety of living with a boy!

Nearly a year into our lease, Zach popped the question and we were engaged 🙂

And subsequently, decided that now was the time to make the biggest move of our lives: Denver.

Thankfully, the transition to Denver was fairly easy thanks to us both having jobs and amazing families.

But of course, wedding planning moved into full force quickly once we were settled.

So you see . . . my life has been one-thing-to-the-next for really my entire adult life.

I tell you this whole long story because for as long as I can remember, I’ve been working towards or planning for something. . . the next big thing.  But now, for the first time in my adult life, I don’t have that next big thing.

Part of me is living in the moment, and basking in the quiet.  I need for nothing right now.  I am happier than I have ever been, and that is pretty amazing.

But another part of me wants that next big thing.

I just have no idea what that next big thing may be. . .

So — I’m currently searching for inspiration.

What am I looking for?

A new “thing” that provides growth and self-improvement

Something that I can do to become a better person.  For myself.  For my husband.  For everyone.

Is it through my job? Career?

Through the blog?  I am inspired by my blog, readers, other blogs, and the community EVERYDAY.  If only I could make my blog, writing, and my job one in the same 🙂

Through my family and friends?  Lord knows I’ve got amazing people in both.

I have no idea — but I’m ready for whatever it is when I find it.

Question of the Day:  Anyone else been in a spot like this? Am I totally crazy?

If you HAVE been in a similar spot — what’d you do?
