Spring Friday Round Up

The sun is shining and it is another beautiful day here in Colorado.

Colorado really is spectacular in the Spring.  Yes — we get snow in April and May.  And yes, you will likely hear me complain about it.  But Spring snowy days are often followed closely by another 60 and Sunny degree day.   So there is always that :).

This beautiful day has me excited for another weekend (hello quick week!).  Tonight we’re taking it easy, and tomorrow is supposed to be stormy so we’re heading up to the mountains to enjoy the snow :), and then Sunday is sunny and 60 again so we’re hoping to enjoy Denver with a possible run and brunch.  Not. Too. Shabby.

Moving on, let’s talk about this week.

Workouts

photo 2 (1)

  • Monday: PM yoga class
  • Tuesday: Speed/hill work run AM, lunch easy strength 30 minute session
  • Wednesday:  Pilates Barr class + 2 mile run
  • Thursday: Rest day with hilly Gus walk
  • Friday: AM speed work on treadmill for 4.3 + miles and quick weights

Overall, I was fairly busy this week but did manage to squeeze in some intentional exercise when I could.  Two classes, two dedicated speed runs, one great walk with Gus, a strength work out.  Not too bad.  This weekend I’m planning one ski day and one run day — so I think that’ll round out the week nicely.  Stay tuned!

Zach and I were inspired to get groceries for the weekend last night while we were out after dinner so we have a few meals planned for the weekend as well before he leaves.

  • Stir fry with elk meat
  • Fresh salads
  • Homemade pizza

Sounds like some good eats to me!

And let’s wrap it up with some inspiration and love for another good week in the books.

Question of the afternoon:  What goal are you working on right now?

Round Up Time!

Happy Friday everyone! 🙂  As I sit here enjoying my “tea” of lemon, mint and Emergen-c, I can’t help but feel thankful that Friday hurried itself here for me 🙂  Phew, what a week!

Last Night

When I got home last night Zach and I immediately got to work on dinner (this girl was hungry).  On the menu was open face sammies with fresh greens and a side of grilled green beans.  My sandwich included:

  • Delicious seedy bread
  • Roast Beef
  • Cheddar
  • Tomato
  • Salt/Pepper
  • Greens dressed with olive oil and vinegar

And of course, the greens were simply grilled with Parmesan put on AFTER grilling.

We were in bed by 10 o’clock and it was glorious.

This Morning

I had planned to take it easy this morning, but I woke up with plenty of time and KNOW that I travel much easier AFTER a good sweat. I’ve mentioned it many times before — running makes me a much more relaxed person in situations I cannot control.  AKA flying.

Workout of the Day:  Easy 4 miles

I told myself at many points in this run that I could quit at any point, since it was technically a rest day.  BUT — I felt fine and knew that I could keep going, so I did.  4 miles, check.

ROUND UP TIME!

Let’s just be real here.  I did NOT do a great job of meeting all my goals this week.  Here was my plan for the week:

  • Run daily (one day above 4, at least 3 AT 4 miles)
  • 5 days of light strength training
  • YOGA, YOGA, YOGA
  • HYDRATE!  Drinking that lemon and mint water last week did wonders.  Keep it up!

Run Daily

This one I WAS successful with.  My runs for the week looked like:

  • Monday: 4 mile AM, PM 30 minute pyramid run
  • Tuesday: 4 mile AM
  • Wednesday: 6.25 mile 60 minute run
  • Thursday: 4 mile AM
  • Friday: 4 mile AM

For a total of 25.53 miles since Monday.   Not too shabby on this one

5 days of light strength training

Well, I did one day of the full strength training, and 3 days of abs.   Upps.

YogaYogaYoga

Yeah, this one was just totally put to the back burner.  I’m sorry.

Hydrate

I’ve done well with this one with my water + lemon and mint.

Some is better than none, right?  It was a crazy week and I stock with what was good for me.  Running = destressing.

And finally: FOOD PORN!

Happy Friday Everyone!

That’s right.  We’ve all [[almost]] made it through the first entire week of work for 2014.   High five to YOU!  Now we’ll just have to make plans to meet for Happy Hour, mmmmmk?

Weekly Wrap Up

As always, I am VERY excited about the weekend.  Zach and I plan to check out a new spot in our neighborhood tonight that we’ve been TOLD has live music.   Always a good time.  And early tomorrow morning we are on our way to Winter Park for 2 days on the slopes, with the weekend HOPEFULLY wrapping up with a Bronco’s Win.   Pretty good weekend to wrap up what was a pretty good week.

  • Homemade chicken tacos
  • Open face sammies
  • Linger Date Night

I started off my Friday with a glorious morning of rest.  Starting and ending the week sleeping in is REALLY working for this girl ;).  Although I have to admit I have no plans to work out this evening.  It’s been far too long since I’ve had a full rest day. . . I would say this was a pretty successful first week of 2014 for this lady.  Now let’s keep it up for the weekend y’all. . .

Question of the Morning:  How was YOUR week?  You know I love hearing about it.
