WIAW – What I Ate Wednesday SKI Edition

Did you all notice some small changes around the ol’ blog? 🙂  I was busy this morning making a few visual changes to the page, and so far I am loving it!

Moving on to business. . . Happy WIAW day! 🙂 My favorite.  Come on, a day where everyone posts their best eats?  Love it!  As always, thanks to Jenn for hosting! 🙂

For this week, I’m doing WIAW, ski weekend edition 🙂

For the trip up the mountain, Zach and I stopped at Starbuck’s and split a Spinach and Egg White wrap and Cranberry bliss bar.  Ultimate ski fuel 🙂  Great mix of healthy stuff, with fun delicious treats that you can burn off on your big ski day.

For Sunday, Zach and I stopped at a little Creperie in Winter Park and enjoyed muffins and a breakfast crepe.  The muffins were blueberry and carrot cake (we actually saved most of the carrot cake for the ride home).  The breakfast crepe, destroyed before pictures could be taken, was bacon egg and cheese in a GREAT crepe wrap.  I left this meal feeling a little overly full, but nothing 3 or 4 hours on the mountain couldn’t handle.






These are all old pictures, but we snacked on a BUNCH of trail mix, chips and beer when we got down from the slopes.  Our breakfasts were enough to tide us through the day, but by the time we got to our room at 4 we were starving.  GIVE US SNACKS!

We went to the little tavern in the hotel Saturday night, where I enjoyed a Greek salad (undressed, apparently they don’t need it!) and red wine.  Perfect way to wrap up the ski day.  And on Sunday when we got home, our ONLY dinner option was our favorite option: PIZZA! 🙂  Of course!

When you ski hard for 2 days, you deserve a treat right?  Hello delicious PB cup split by Zach and I (mainly me…).


And that, my friends, is what I ate on the mountain.  Can I go back now? 😉

WIAW – Breakfast Edition

Time for my foodie self to get excited! What I Ate Wednesday, as always, hosted by the wonderful Jenn.

Since I have been working on eating WHOLE, REAL foods these past couple of weeks, my love of breakfast has been reignited.  Because of that, I thought I would make today’s edition of WIAW a breakfast edition.  Featuring some of my favorite breakfasts, savory, sweet, restaurant style, and homemade!

Homemade Breakfasts



When I make breakfast for myself, and for Zach, at home, I tend to go for the savory route, specifically eggs.  I LOVE egg scrambles.  They’re perfect “garbage” dishes, throw whatever you have in the fridge and call it delish.  I also LOVE breakfast sammies, of any variety.  Carbs, protein, and veggies.  Awesome!  And of course, PB is always number 1 in my book.

Restaurant Breakfasts



Breakfast/Brunch is ALWAYS a favorite of mine to indulge in :).  If I’m in the strickly breakfast mode, I tend to go for egg white omelettes with fruit sides, quiches, or even fresh breakfast sammies.  Lately I have also been LOVING The Whole Foods oatmeal bar!

Because sometimes you just have to indulge for breakfast. 🙂  I LOVE coffee cakes (homemade are the BEST), pastries, and decadent bagels with PB or a good cream cheese.  My favorite is Panera’s famous cinnamon crunch.  YUM.

WIAW — Thanksgiving Edition

While we’re all trying to stay warm here out West, I’m warming my HEART by going back through my favorite Holiday eats of the past week . . . with the star being THANKSGIVING OF COURSE!

Thanksgiving Meal


Seriously, this was one of my favorite Thanksgiving meals in memory.  SO fresh, full of flavor and even fairly healthy!  LOVED IT.  My favorite bites were probably the stuffing on top of the greens, but it was all great!

While it doesn’t photograph well, Zach’s family has a holiday tradition of making French Silk Pie, and this years did NOT disappoint :). YUM

Breakfast Treat

My sister-in-law made some DELICIOUS homemade sticky buns for us all to enjoy with our Thanksgiving morning coffee…oh man were they sinful.  I am shocked that I limited myself to one!  I wanted the whole pan!

Thanksgiving Snacks


We snacked on a BUNCH of cheese, crackers and wine (beer for the boys) all afternoon during the holiday.  But let’s be real. . . I can snack on that stuff any day!

And that, my friends, was WIA- Thanksgiving Edition 🙂  SOOO good, I miss the holiday and family already 🙂 ❤
