I had a great, very 40 based work out tonight in the old apartment gym.
Workout Of The Day: 40-40-40-40
40 minutes on the treadmill for 4.53 miles
- 40 incline sit ups
- 40 reps of chest press
- 40 squats
I left the gym feeling like I had a great workout, but energized instead of overworked. Loved it.
Timed Runs Versus Miles
I don’t know if you all have noticed but I’ve been trying to switch up my otherwise very boring running routine lately. Instead of having a mile goal I’ve been working on a TIME goal for my runs. This has included:
- Pyramid runs
- Progressive runs
- Speed runs
- Easy runs
You can really do it with any type of run (duhhhh). I’ve found that this forces me to work on one-step-at-a-time versus just busting out whatever needs to be done to hit that X.X mileage. While it gives me random numbers for keeping track of distance (which kind of kills this number girl inside), in a weird way it makes me push myself just that LITTLE extra bit. And with my focus switching back to training soon after I return from the honeymoon — this is a good thing!
What do you guys think? Mile goal or timed goal? Do you think one is harder/easier?
