Don’t Listen To Me I’m Predictable and Gross Story

I say don’t listen to me. . . because I lie.

What is my problem?  This morning I was all set for a rest day.  But by the time I got home,  all I wanted to do was get a quick run in.

In all fairness to myself — I had new shorts that Zach got me for Christmas that I wanted to try out.  They’re New Balance, and they are the lightest things I have ever worn in my life.  Zach thinks they may be a BIT too big, but I think they are comfy.  Totally approve.  And sorry Lululemon — these don’t chafe so I may be wearing these more often.

Workout of the Day: 4 miles

  • 1 mile between 6.4-6.5 warm up
  • 4 400’s @ 8.0-8.2 (with cool down 400 in between)
  • 1 mile cool down

Easy, peasy and I felt great during AND after.

Dinner

Shocking — basically a repeat of last nights salad, with chicken and toast on the side tonight.

I am nothing if not predictable tonight, huh?

Gross Story

So — I want to share a quick story with you all because almost 10 hours later I STILL feel like I have bugs crawling all over me.

For breakfast this morning I ran to Whole Foods to get some oatmeal (also predictable, oatmeal for breakfast).  I topped it with bananas and strawberries this morning, along with dried fruit.  I was pretty stoked about this breakfast, but unfortunately things got crazy quickly at work and I wasn’t able to eat it right away.

Around 10 AM I was finally ready to eat my grub, so I took it to the microwave to heat up.   I was chatting with a coworker and when I went to open up my oatmeal container, GNATS CAME FLYING OUT!

I seriously almost pooped myself.  Not only was I disgusting and didn’t feel like eating after that, I have seriously felt like I had bugs crawling over me all day.  Come to find out, there had been some food left in my office over vacation, which is the likely source of the gnats.

I’m still grossed out…

Quesiton of the night:  Share your gross tale.

I also had ants come out of a tootsie pop.  That I was currently eating.

St Louis Grub

What an amazing week of fun eats!  St Louis (actually Edwardsville, IL, but who’s keeping track?) will always be my home.  So many friends, family, and fond memories are tied to that city that it will never stop having that special place in my heart.

With that said, one of my favorite things about going home to St Louis?  My parents treat us to some GREAT meals!  That was absolutely true this last week!  I know I posted random pictures, but I thought I might add a few details for you all in case you’re ever in the area!

Bristol Seafood Grill

My parents took us out to Bristol for lunch the day after Christmas.  They had spoken very highly of it, but little did I know what a treat I was in for!

The meal started with that delicious looking cheddar buscuit for everyone.  My kind of bread service!  They were served to us fresh out of the oven still on their tray.  Yes, please!  And of course, we were offered seconds 🙂

For my meal, I went with a Power Lunch option of Caesar salad and spicy tuna sushi roll.

The Caesar had the PERFECT dressing (my favorite) that wasn’t too sweet but also not too fishy.  It included a Parmesan crisp on the side that I ate silently because I didn’t want anyone else to know just how delicious it was!

And of course, the sushi…which is what I was craving.  The roll was small, but packed of flavor (SPICY!).  You can kind of see the yellow sauce on the roll to the far left, yum!

Overall

It could have been the fact that I drank wine with lunch, never do.  But I LOVED this meal!  The food was all perfect, and while the service was a little slow/odd, but nothing that majorly affected the meal.

Charley Gitto’s

For my Dad’s birthday dinner, they took Zach and I out to Charlie Gitto’s in the Hollywood casino in St Charles, MO.   My family and I have been here multiple times for nice meals, and like always, we were not dissapointed :).

We started the meal with a great bottle of red wine

That stuff goes fast between 4 people!

And then Zach and I split a small chopped salad to start our meal.

Oh my lord I’d go back just for this salad.  It was amazing.  I wish it wasn’t so dark, this salad was beautiful AND flavorful.  We went with a Parmesan dressing, and let me tell you.  Yum.

I went off my norm for my entree and got a seafood ravioli with a lobster sauce.   I don’t normally order seafood pasta because the flavor of the fish can be overwhelming for me — but this was a perfect balance of flavors and fresh pasta.

As always, the services was impecible, minus some bad coffee, really it was a perfect night.

Ahhh I miss home already 🙂

Question of the Afternoon: What’s your favorite hometown fancy dinner spots?

Going To Try And Get Back To The Routine

Happy Monday everyone 🙂  As promised, I am REALLY going to try and get back to the norm with you all and this little blog of mine.

Last Night

I just want to point that Zach and I watched the coolest thing ever last night.  Seriously, did anyone watch 60 Minutes?  Ummm –  Bird people?  Anderson Cooper swinging with gigantic crocodiles?  We seriously sat there in shock as we watched it.  We never watch 60 Minutes, but this one was GOOD.  Zach even choose to watch it over Sunday Night football.   And now we want to fly. . .

Dinner

Dinner was a GREAT one last night.   I know our Sunday ritual is homemade pizza, but we ordered pizza the previous night with our neighbors so we switched things up.

The base of the meal for me was a simple arugula salad with hearts of palm, jalapenos, sunflower seeds, dressed very lightly with lemon and a vinaigrette.

Seriously YUM!

We also prepared a simple tomato and mozzarella salad with salt and pepper.

All together now!

And you know Zach prepared a nice steak to go along side :).  While I didn’t have too much (the salad was just TOO good), the steak was prepared perfectly with a nice salty crust.

We finished dinner two happy little kiddos.  You will see meals like this more often, just warning.

Ski Dessert

And of course — I finished the day off with another Cookie Bomb from Goodies, our favorite Winter Park stop.  Once again, I needed help from Zach, but this one had peanut butter frosting.  Made it much easier to power through ;).

This Morning Back to Reality

After 10 days straight of running and crazy working out, I thought this Monday was the perfect day to take a guilt free rest day.  My plan for today is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, and get some yoga in to make myself ready to bring in the new year with some good strong work outs :).

I’ll be back later with more details of our fantastic Christmas Vacation 🙂

Question of the Morning:  How are you feeling about being “back to reality?”
