A Perfect Winter Weekend

Sunday’s always come way too fast.  Especially after a perfect, perfect weekend.

Sushi night

By the time Friday rolled around, Zach and I needed a break.  A serious quiet, relaxing, no thinking, wine and comedy kind of night.

Add take out sushi to the mix and you have a perfect way to wrap up a crazy weekend.

We enjoyed sushi with Hangover III and The Internship.

Maybe it was the wine and the fact that we were just slap happy, but we enjoyed both movies and ended up falling asleep on the couch right after the last movie finished.  Upps 🙂

Ski Day

Yesterday morning I got woken up by the husband with a cup of coffee and good conversation.

By 745 I ran downstairs to squeeze in a few miles (2) on the treadmill before heading to the slopes.

Apparently our furball wanted to come with us…I guess she was pouting because her brother always gets to go.

I didn’t bring the camera on the mountain this time, but I did get some fun pictures of our way up.  As I mentioned yesterday, there is something SO amazing about ski season, specifically the first day of your ski season.

The conditions were AMAZING for early season skiing and we enjoyed a half day in the snow.  Not quite powder — but we’ll get there.

We stopped by Sprouts on our way home to get groceries for the week (best idea ever.  Now we can be  hermits all day today).

We got home about 3 PM and enjoyed another perfect, quiet afternoon reading.

PS:  if you are a woman and a runner, or want to understand women runners, get this book.  It’s amazing.  I’ll do a review when it’s done.

We ended up having a perfect post-ski meal of kielbasa, crackers, veggies and spinach and artichoke hummus.

We ended our evening watching Finding Forrester (very good), and once again fell asleep on the couch.

I think two nights in a row of falling asleep on the couch means this lady is finding her relaxed zone again.  I love it 🙂

Of course, I’ll be back later with my Silent Sunday reacap.  I managed to fit in a run this morning (Even though I REALLY wanted to skip) looking something like:

Workout of the Day:  5 miles, speed work

  • 1 mile warm up
  • 4 * 800 @ 8.0-8.3 pace with 400 recovery in between
  • 2 sets of 400 @ 8.1 pace with 6.3 recovery until finished

My graceful self hit the the emergency button ONCE AGAIN on the treadmill mid run this morning, so I have no idea what my total time was, but I felt speedy 🙂

Happy Sunday All 🙂

Question of the Afternoon/Morning:  What was the highlight of your weekend?  Was it relaxing?
