Zach made it home safe and sound last night from his European (work) adventure.
The whole family was SUPER excited to see him…I think Zach and I got got punched by Gus a few times jumping up and down. It was super cute.
We enjoyed our tortilla soup, and Zach was knocked out on the couch by 830. Poor kid. I managed to stay up and eat a bit of the chocolate he brought home for me though 🙂
This Morning
Since I haven’t had a day to sleep in for a few weeks with Zach, sleeping in was WELL earned this morning.
Poor Zach wasn’t able to sleep in, but I slept in until 715, and woke up to the fire going and a warm comfy bedroom. Since I didn’t want to do NOTHING to start my day, I did a quick little work out of :
- 5 rounds of
- 25 jumping jacks
- 60 second plank
It was enough to get my blood pumping and brain working.
I still plan on working out AFTER work…and since I want to hold myself accountable, I’ll go ahead and let yall know what I’m going to be doing:
I call it a 10-10-10 routine.
- 10 minutes treadmill
- 10 miles bike
- 10 minutes treadmill
A nice way to break up cardio, right?
Ok guys, work time! I’ll be back this afternoon for WIAW!
Question of the Morning: Does anybody else have any good 5-10 minute quick work out ideas that you can do first thing in the morning or before bed to get the blood pumpin?
Glad your hubby is finally home! And glad he brought you home chocolate. What a keeper!
He definitely is! 🙂
I love your idea of 10-10-10!!! We both know how much I hate the treadmill, but I think that would make it super easy! For me it’s about getting bored, and I think 10 min is the perfect time to trick my brain.
First thing in the AM I think planks, wall-sits, some ab stuff, and push-ups are my quick go-to’s. They are not high intensity so it’s an easy way to slowly wake up. You’d be surprised how quickly you warm up doing those!
The planks this morning definitely had my arms shaking!
I’m absolutely loving feeling like I have the flexibility again to switch things up and try new things not training. It’s been SO long since I wasn’t training for a race, my body is confused! lol
Lol I know what you mean! A part of me can’t wait until this half is over so I can have a less rigorous training schedule.
Try the “7 minutes” app on iphone…has a good at home set you can do to get things moving.
I unfortunately don’t have a smart phone, YET haha
It’s funny how anymore we all just assume everyone has a smart phone, or an iphone in particular! Well, if you were REALLY that curious, you could go to http://www.7-min.com/ and that does the same workout on computerville. 🙂
I don’t have a specific workout for the AM but you should check out the book called “SPARK”. It’s by Dr. John Ratey … it’s all about hour exercise turns your brain on and how kids should be working out before school to optimize their learning, test scores etc!
He came to speak at a school here to started a pilot program (before I went on maternity leave)…I’m eager to see how it’s going.
His research is amazing.

I’m glad you have your husband back at home! And I hope he brought some awesome European stories for you! 🙂
Oh he definitely did 🙂 I’m jealous!
happy he’s home! i like to switch things up like that too so i don’t get bored.
I’ve LOVED not training right now! Flexibility is my friend 🙂
not sure I would want my blood pumping before I try to sleep….but in the morning if I don’t do a run or go to the gym, I like to do about 15 minutes of Pilates with a a resistant band.
I tend to like to do yoga or an easy set of push ups and sit ups before bed….i don’t know why but it settles my mind.
I use the short 15-minute workouts on my Nike app sometimes. Glad your hubby is home safe and sound…nice of him to bring you some chocolates. Enjoy your time together and run happy!! 🙂
thanks kim! 🙂
When I have trouble getting moving, I remember yoga class when we are coming out of dead man pose. I start moving fingers, toes, then feets and hands, etc. until everything is moving.
Ok I’m trying to figure out if we’re being a smart ass here mister…
Ha, I was actually being serious for once. It’s the same advice I gave my grandma when she was sick and stiff and got frustrated how long it was taking her to get out of bed.
Glad your husband is home safe and sound! Breaking up workouts like that always make them easier for me, especially when I’m feeling less than motivated
same here!
Z man was in the EU and I didn’t even know about it? Not cool…
We just talked about this last night actually, lol! He felt really bad, but literally did not have a SECOND this trip. He was INSANE, and knew you had your boy in town!
