Sometimes social media really pulls through. . . and this morning Twitter did just that.
I woke up this morning not at ALL wanting to work out. I think all these WODs that I’ve loved doing have worked my body in a new way, leaving me with a new soreness along with it. Go figure.
Well after getting woken up by a paw punch from the dog telling me it was time to go outside (Gus doesn’t understand time changing), I got the furball up, grabbed a cup of coffee from the lobby, and came upstairs to check the blogs, email, twitter, etc.
I couldn’t help but be inspired by all the NYCM love and support out there. People were ready to run, excited to finish 26.2 with 40,000 of their closest friends. Not to mention, my brother and sister-in-law were running in their own marathon/half marathons (Raleigh/Durham)…so I needed to suck it up and get out there.
I was already dressed for the treadmill, an easy work out. So I sucked it up, changed my clothes (a little overkill, fleece, gloves and hat for 50ish), and got out there.
And a 5k later…I couldn’t have been happier with my choice.
Hello negative splits.
I finished off my run with a quick 10 miles on the gym stationary bike.
PS: Shout out to my brother in law who finished 10th in his marathon, and sister-in-law who killed the half with a 1:36 PR. I have fast family members. . .
And now it’s time to run a few errands, including picking up breakfast, a few groceries, and a possible birthday gift for the husband! 🙂 I am excited!
Question of the Day: What’s the last thing that inspired you?
Nice work! I know – I wasn’t feeling very excited for my long run today but watching the marathon has convinced me to go for it and enjoy it! Also, I watched “Fame High” last night and one of the dancers was very inspirational. She talked about how if you want something, you need to recommit to everyday. So true!
Thankfully I didn’t have a long run on schedule for today, my legs may have rebelled lol. Glad you got out! 🙂
Sometimes all it takes is one good workout after missing a few. I had a great workout last night and am inspired by those participating in various challenges (You included). Seeing people out running, the NYCMarathon is making me want to sign up for my next 1/2 this spring – which I was going to wait until the Fall to do….but i’m feeling inspired lately and motivated!
Maybe I should just go register now for a race and then I’m stuck!!!!
Love finding inspiration in random places! I say SIGN UP!! You won’t regret it! Now it’s time to do our little thigh challenge for the day 🙂
I’m really tempted 🙂
I think this thigh challenge is going to get crazy around day 14/15….i’m a little scared 🙂
I am a little concerned myself lol
I know EXACTLY how you feel today. Total twin moment. I felt/feel like crap this AM, but the more I catch up on my blogs, the more I’m talking myself into running 🙂
We seriously need to just accept that were meant to be twin bffs and convince the boys of this so theyll move to the same city.
HAHAHA agreed!
YOU INSPIRE ME!!! (And your super fast in-laws 🙂 ) I ran 4 miles Friday and absolutely had concrete for legs the entire time, and I pushed thru, and thought about how proud I was of you for finishing three half’s in the last year and a half and thought about our chicago run, and I finished my run and was so happy I pushed thru. Then I realized I was under 9 min/mile pace the entire time and I was happy with that 🙂
Under 9 minute mile? You are a freaking rock star my friend!
I ran a half-marathon this morning in Canada. I read some of your blog posts this morning. You inspire me. Runners who write inspire me. Keep running…keep writing:)

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me 🙂
Congrats on the negative splits..my splits are usually all over the place. I agree 100% all the NYCM love is making me want to run! Also, I think I may have to copy you and start doing some WODs, I need to mix it up!
Please do copy me! It’s fun and I’m all about sharing 🙂
I cheered on people at a local 5k this morning. What really inspired me were the little kids that ran it. Like 5 year olds, probably. I was at the last turn just about a hundred yards from the finish. And all the kids looked like they were giving it their all!
That is so cool! I ran a 5k this Summer with some kiddos and let me tell you they were COOKIN at the end!
Way to go!
My last inspiration? Imma prob blog about it next, but yesterday on my long run I ran into a local elite (and buddy). He said he’d run the next couple miles with me – kicked my butt! Keep in mind, this guy just ran a 1:07 half marathon! So that was pretty inspiring to run next to and chat with him.
You should definitely write about that. Zach’s family are all speedy, and even elite runners. It’s amazing to get their perspective.
Loved reading all the posts about the NYC marathon too!
So inspirational!
Keep on! I grew up in NYC.
Love it! 🙂
Honestly, every time I get on here I’m inspired. I get to read posts from people all over the world talking about food and exercise and what motivates them. There are so many reasons to feel good about what we’re individually trying to accomplish, even when some days it doesn’t seem like it.
N o I couldn’t agree more!!! I’m inspired daily by everyone on here!
Aw man, that’s cool. I feel intimidated reading all these comments about how far you guys run… wow. That’s MY inspiration… gonna be on the same level one day 😀

Inspiration comes from many unexpected places! Where did your last inspiration come from? #runchat
I agree, incredibly inspiration … and your family is fast!
