Leavin’ On a Jet Plane

Some major traffic, and a few tears later, I’m here at the air port waiting and ready to get this show on the road.

Can we just talk about how much of a GIRL that I am.  I cry every time Zach or I leave on a trip now.  Who am I? 11 days…11 days.

The flights about an hour delayed, but that’s why I’m flying Friday and not Saturday, right?

So, I’m armed with my Udi’s sandwich, thinkThin snack bars, sparkling water, starbursts and chocolate to get me through to Saint Louis.  I think I’ll make it.

I want to send some MAJOR love and major thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes today.  I hope you all know that it means the world to me, and that you guys will play a BIG part in my crossing that finish line Sunday.  You are all such an inspiration and I’m thankful everyday I started this blog.  But ESPECIALLY on days like Sunday when I need the boost of moral :).

So — let’s get this show on the road, right?

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Question of the Night:  What’s your favorite motivational quote, song, ANYTHING that gets you through races or tough work outs?

I’m gonna need em! 🙂

Friday Round Up October 25 2013

Ok — since I’ve mentioned 25 times how much I can’t believe the speed in which this year is flying by…I’m just going to dive into my Friday Round up 😉

Favorite Run

Can I count the long run from over the weekend?

If not my long run — then I’d definitely say yesterdays run.  There was something VERY cool about finishing my last training run of the session!

Favorite Treat

Need I say more?

Favorite Eat

Probably the baked shrimp app from yesterday’s BANG! meal.  Seriously amazing what they did with that dish.

Favorite Moment

Date night, hello 🙂

And of course: A round up of some of my other eats of the week

Lots of sandwiches and snacks this week. . . not my best week, but not my worst ;).

Last but not least:

FRIDAY FAVORITES

  • 1. My husband:  Having him gone has made me appreciate him that much more.  Absence does make the heart grow fonder I guess
  • 2. Running: LETS GO RACE DAY BABY!
  • 3. My family: I am SO thankful that they are going to be there to cheer me along for the race.  They were there for my first and were SO excited and emotional for me.  It’s contagious
  • 4. YOU ALL — I can’t even begin to express how much your support as meant this week.  I’ll be thinking about you all during the race, I hope you know that!
  • 5. Fall colors: A little late in the game, but Colorado is FULL of Fall colors right now and I am just LOVING that.

Alright guys — just a few more hours than I leave for the airport! AHHH IT’S GETTING REAL!

Question of the Afternoon:  What’s one Friday Favorite.  I need inspiration 🙂

Work Out Round Up October 25, 2013

Another Friday!  While I would LOVE life to slow down a bit, I am not complaining that these Fridays seem to roll around so quickly lately.  JA mere HOURS until Saint Louis!

Last night was date night in the Jara household, which always makes for a great night 🙂

With Zach gone the next almost 2 weeks I was happy to get some QT with the boy :).

And you  know we got home and dominated some apple pie.  It’s definitely already halfway done.  Upps.

This Morning

No work out this morning.  Just glorious rest.  Which is exactly what the plan called for :).  I do ❤ taper sometimes.

Work out Round Up

Here’s how the week was supposed to look.

  • Monday: YOGA and 3 miles of walking
  • Tuesday: 5k easy run
  • Wednesday: YOGA and 3 miles of walking
  • Thursday: 5k easy run
  • Friday: REST/YOGA
  • Saturday: Possible 2 miles in STL to open up the legs
  • Sunday: RACE DAY BABY!

And here’s how it has turned out

  • Monday: Yoga and 3 miles of walking
  • Tuesday: 5k easy run (which was tough)
  • Wednesday: LOTS of yoga and 3 miles of walking including a frosty mile with the pup
  • Thursday: 5k easy treadmill run with one speedy mile
  • Friday: REST and maybe yoga at lunch
  • Saturday: 2 miles in STL to open up the legs
  • Sunday: RACE DAY!

Italicized because it’s still planned.

I am proud of myself this week.  Tapering is hard for a lot of runners, myself included.  But I REALLY want to have a good race after this hard fought training season, so I recognized that this is what my body needed, and so I chilled out.

I am going to Saint Louis this afternoon feeling well rested, armed with Runner’s World and SELF magazines for inspiration (and lots of candy), and a book for distraction.

By the time I get to the expo tomorrow, I’m gonna be STOKED 🙂

Alright — time to get to work.  I’ll check back in later this afternoon before my flight!

Question of the Morning: Your favorite work out this week

Probably all the yoga to be honest.  Not a huge fan of the treadmill runs lately, so I’ll give it up to yoga today.
