Masterpiece!

Well — I’m getting ready to eat dinner then hit the road to pick up the husband.  He’s on his way from a lay over in O’hare as we speak!

My first go at bachelorette life was a success.  And now I have my husband back…well until Monday 🙂

My Goals

Got home and did my wifely duties:

  • take care of the furballs
  • laundry
  • dishes

Before taking some time for me: YOGA.  I am so thankful that I decided to take it a little easier on myself this week be creating goals versus a work out schedule.  I feel like I’ve given my body the ease that it needed, while also fitting in necessary activity.  Ultimately, daily yoga, 2 runs, 20 miles on the bike…not too shabby.

Dinner

After my chores and yoga time, came dinner time.

On the menu tonight:  Sandwiches from Masterpiece deli. Something easy for me to eat, and ready for Zach when he gets in late.

Ahi tuna on an english muffin for me.

I don’t know what’s better here…the muffin or the ahi.  I’m telling you if you are in the Denver area and like sandwiches, you HAVE to try Masterpiece!  LOVE IT.

And now . . . I’m gonna wrap up things around here and pick up the boy! 🙂

Quesiton of the Night:  What’s your favorite sandwhich place?

Masterpiece all the way 🙂

Do You DO What You Pin?

So I’ve expressed to you all that I’m fairly new to much of the social media scene.

Sure, I’ve had my personal facebook page since college (back in the day it was THE facebook, when you posted your classes, and it was ONLY for college students).  But it wasn’t until the blog that I got into twitter and pinterest, I just made a blog facebook page, and I am still waiting to get a smart phone to join instagram.

But thanks to the blog and you all, I feel like I’m learning, slowly but surely.  And last night was a big step for me.

My first attempt at a pinterest baking “pin” since I started the blog :).

I’m going to save the recipe for you until all Zach and I actually try it tonight — but for now I’ll give you a teaser shot:

While I was baking last night, I got to thinking – – I’ve never actually tried to bake anything that I’ve pinned.

I did use pinterest to help find inspiration for my wedding — colors, styles, hair-do, bridesmaid dresses.  I’ve even used it for cleaning tricks (I microwaved a bowl of vinegar and water for 5 minutes, and then wiped down our microwave to clean it before we moved last year.  Worked like a charm, stuff came right off).

But baking — I hadn’t actually used it yet.

I’ve heard of pinterest fail (and certainly gotten a few laughs from it.  NAILED IT) — and knew that a lot of people find what they pin a little more challenging in practice than in pictures.  And to be honest, I was a little afraid, myself, that I would “fail” if I attempted any.  So since I started my “pinterest,” my baking board has been more of a dream board.

Well that all changed last night and I’m excited about it!  I am making a vow to myself to use it as inspiration and try things that I wouldn’t otherwise.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t bake exactly what I pinned.  I used it as a starting point, and made it my own.  But I think that’s great,.  I still got my inspiration from the pin, and hopefully made something delicious from it.  Talk about finding inspiration, and now I can’t wait to try a lot more!  Sometimes I love social media 🙂

So I guess I’m asking you all. . .

Has anyone else not “used” their pinterest boards?  Or do you have a board that is more of a dream than reality?

And please! Follow me on any of the networks (twitter , facebook & pinterest)!   < — I love feeling connected to you all 🙂

Where’d The Week Go?

Good Morning lovelies 🙂

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday.  In some weird way this week has really flown by, especially considering I wasn’t exactly busy.

Ehh — I’m not complaining 🙂  I get to pick up Zach tonight and tomorrow’s Friday.  That makes me one.happy.lady :).

Back track: Last Night

I made it to my happy place last night after work for a run :).

I’m sure I’ll get sick of the park and trails at some point, but I am LOVING it for the time being.

There was definitely a different crisp in the air than what I’ve had on any of my other runs, especially considering it was at 5 PM at night. . . but I wasn’t complaining.  My lungs adjusted by lap two and in the end, I did a nice and easy 3 laps around the lake for a little under 4 miles.

As far as my ankle goes:  it has been feeling much better each day — and the reason I ultimately decided to run yesterday was piece of mind.  I absolutely took the run easy, didn’t even bring my garmin, but I wanted to test it out to make sure I’d be OK for the race next weekend.  I could definitely feel the ankle in the beginning, but less than a half mile in, I got into a groove and it didn’t bug me at all.

When I got home from the run, I got straight to baking (yes, skipping a shower.  Apparently that is ALSO a part of bachelorette life.  Zach, you need to come home).

I am going to save the recipe for when Zach is home, so that we can let you know how it tastes. . . but I’ll give you a few sneak peaks because I definitely was baking with some things I have NEVER baked with before.

That’s right folks :).  Fingers crossed it’s a good one! 🙂

While that baked, I roasted up a small head of broccoli and carrot in the oven, prepared some greens with salt, pepper and caesar dressing, and baked a sausage in the oven for dinner.

It was hearty, warm, and full of veggies and protein.  Hit the spot.

Along with some chex mix of course.  I’m still workin off that bag I got Monday 🙂

I got The Big Wedding from Redbox to watch last night, but to be honest it didn’t really keep my attention from the beginning.  I spent most of the movie on the blogs and following the Tigers game on my computer.

And then I finished the rest of my red velvet cake and watched Food Network until it was time for bed :).  Man I’m predictable 🙂

This Morning:

Since Thursdays are my late days, I woke up around 730 AM wide eyed and bushy tailed.  I have definitely gotten plenty of good sleep this week, which my body is thankful for.

I fed the furballs and then went straight to the gym for an easy 5k.

Workout for the Day: Easy 5k on the treadmill

Nothing really notable about this one.  Finished in about 29 minutes, never pushing it too hard.  I’m hoping to get a long run in over the weekend, a recovery run, and then 2 short 5ks next week before heading to St. Louis.  It’s getting real yall 🙂

And of course, now it’s time to finish getting ready and head to work.  Thanks for checking in with me guys 🙂

Have a great morning!
