Hey all and Happy over the Hump night 🙂
Can I call it that? I totally just made that up because I figured I’m “over the hump” because I’m done with work on hump day. Does it work?
Moving on:
Well for bachelorette night number 3: I borrowed an idea from my lovely friend, Emily at Build Your Bliss. Check her out you all — she’s great :).
Today she posted about 8 Things Every Happy Woman Should Have from Cupcakes and Cashmere. I fell in love with it right away and thought it’d be fun to do my own list and share it with you all 🙂
Ashley’s 8 Things That Every Woman Should Have
1. A go-to drink: Wine — Red (Malbec) during the colder months, and White (Riesling) during the warmer months.
2. A go-to karaoke song: Don’t Stop Believing by Journey. I may or may not have performed this with my Mother-in-Law and Sisters-in-Law. It was AWESOME.
3. A uniform: Skinny jeans, a simple tee, my brown riding boots, and a scarf.
4. A hair stylist they love: Alisha at Denver Salon. She’s adorable and knows what she’d doing with the scissors.
5. An exercise routine: You all have this one pretty well known by this point :). Running 4 days a week, strength and cross training 2 days a week, and one rest day with yoga thrown in any given day.
6. A hobby: My blog and you all have become my new favorite hobby 🙂
7. A best friend: I don’t mean to sound too cheesy, but Zach is my best friend and husband. I don’t know where I’d be without him :). But I also love me my girlfriends, so shout out to Zoe ❤ and all my ladies. You know who you are 😉
8. A healthy sense of self: This is something that I think most of us ladies are constantly working on. I haven’t always had a healthy sense of self: AKA Middle school through Undergrad, but at some point in my mid 20’s I changed my focus. It because less important for me to be skinny, social, or attractive, and more about being healthy. Ever since I’ve really developed an appreciation for my body and the amazing things it can do. And that is pretty cool.
Fun right?
I’ll be back tomorrow with a round up of tonight, but for now I’ll give you the highlights:
- A BEAUTIFUL run :):):)
- Lots of Nuun and sparking water
- Baking
- A homemade dinner for 1
- A movie
- Furball time
See you all tomorrow with more details, I’ve got some relaxing to do 🙂
Question of the night: Boy or Girl: Give me one of your 8 MUST haves 🙂
1. A go-to drink: Caesar!
2. A go-to karaoke song: I have never done karaoke (other than at someone’s house once) but I love to sing. So…. hmm something by Bon Jovi
3. A uniform: My fave jeans and my fave button up plaid shirt
4. A hair stylist they love: wish I had this. I always go to different people.
5. An exercise routine: Running 3x a week and doing strength training 2-3x a week
6. A hobby: Playing guitar & singing
7. A best friend: My boyfriend 🙂 and a couple close girl friends
8. A healthy sense of self: I am working on that one 🙂
As for best friend I totally get what you mean by picking your husband. I would say my boyfriend is my best friend too… they are your other half and best friend. Especially since we have been together forever (almost 7 years). How long have you and Zach been together? 🙂
We’ve been together about 4.5 years now — but it seems like a lifetime having gone through so many major changes together. 🙂 Sounds like you’ve got a great guy there too, 7 years is awesome!
Yeah I know what you mean. We’ve been together so long he even was my prom date haha.
Awwe I adore that!
LOVE!!! Your run looks beautiful (I take it your ankle was feeling better?)!
I was REALLY scared to do it, but took it one step at a time and the ankle (Braced up) felt fine. I felt like I HAD to try for my own peace of mind with the race next weekend.
Yeah, your confidence probably needed it more than your legs! Luckily you get to taper, so your ankle will have more time to rest. I’m getting so excited for you!!!
Dance!
one of the things I absolutely must have (now…it is a recent thing) is the opportunity to dance and perform at regular intervals!
this sort of dancing!
http://midsummer365project.wordpress.com/2013/08/07/dy-47-lost-in-the-labyrinth/
and I totally agree about the sense of self! It has taken my somewhat longer than you to realise it…but I am there now and working towards healthy and fit 🙂
I love your passion for dance! I dance as a kid but don’t have much rhythm so didn’t stick with it unfortunately!
it is pretty new to me, I did ballet and tap as a 5 yr old (as possibly all 5 yr olds do) and a bit of country dancing at primary school, then stopped for a long time until I joined my morris side last year, now I love it and dance all the time if I can!
I highly recommend it, even if you think you don’t have much rhythm, I didn’t think I did!!
😀
I’m too lazy to give you 8, but I’ll do the first two – 1, White Russian 2, If it’s a contest I go with Sweet Caroline. If it’s with my one friend, we do 500 Miles by Proclaimers. If it’s with my wife’s sister, we sing Afternoon Delight. Maybe the best performance was in Maine several years ago and I sang Paradise by the Dashboard Light with a stranger named Kat in the basement of a bar. We killed it! That or in the finals of a contest on a cruise ship in Alaska – but that’s another story!
LOL — OK seems like we have a karaoke pro family over here! I’m pretty impressed, and feel like I should probably see video evidence. . .
There may be some video out there 😉 I’ll have to get back to you!
Oh PLEASE do!
I LOVE Malbec and Riesling… and I’ll throw in my favorite, Pinot Gris. 🙂
Good taste lady 🙂
Why thank-you! If I’m ever in Denver we can wine it up. HA!
We better! 🙂
9. Chocolate!
LOL you KNOW I agree with this
9. a sense of purpose. Makes everything else feel worth it 🙂
Love this 🙂
