8 Things Every Happy Woman Should Have

Hey all and Happy over the Hump night 🙂

Can I call it that?  I  totally just made that up because I figured I’m “over the hump” because I’m done with work on hump day.  Does it work?

Moving on:

Well for bachelorette night number 3: I borrowed an idea from my lovely friend, Emily at Build Your Bliss.  Check her out you all — she’s great :).

Today she posted about 8 Things Every Happy Woman Should Have from Cupcakes and Cashmere.  I fell in love with it right away and thought it’d be fun to do my own list and share it with you all 🙂

Ashley’s  8 Things That Every Woman Should Have

1. A go-to drink: Wine — Red (Malbec) during the colder months, and White (Riesling) during the warmer months.

2. A go-to karaoke song: Don’t Stop Believing by Journey.  I may or may not have performed this with my Mother-in-Law and Sisters-in-Law.  It was AWESOME.

3. A uniform: Skinny jeans, a simple tee, my brown riding boots, and a scarf.

4. A hair stylist they love: Alisha at Denver Salon.  She’s adorable and knows what she’d doing with the scissors.

5. An exercise routine: You all have this one pretty well known by this point :). Running 4 days a week, strength and cross training 2 days a week, and one rest day with yoga thrown in any given day.

6. A hobby:  My blog and you all have become my new favorite hobby 🙂

7. A best friend: I don’t mean to sound too cheesy, but Zach is my best friend and husband.  I don’t know where I’d be without him :).  But I also love me my girlfriends, so shout out to Zoe ❤ and all my ladies. You know who you are 😉

8. A healthy sense of self: This is something that I think most of us ladies are constantly working on.  I haven’t always had a healthy sense of self: AKA Middle school through Undergrad, but at some point in my mid 20’s I changed my focus.  It because less important for me to be skinny, social, or attractive, and more about being healthy.  Ever since I’ve really developed an appreciation for my body and the amazing things it can do.  And that is pretty cool.

Fun right?

I’ll be back tomorrow with a round up of tonight, but for now I’ll give you the highlights:

  • A BEAUTIFUL run :):):)
  • Lots of Nuun and sparking water
  • Baking
  • A homemade dinner for 1
  • A movie
  • Furball time

WIAW Sick Edition

Another Wednesday — so that equals another What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW) hosted by the wonderful peas and crayons = ).

WIAWbutton

Since my day-to-day eats, especially at work, are fairly boring, I like to switch up it up here. Previous WIAW have followed my Long runs, and even the days POST long run.

Today I am doing WIAW — sick edition.  Being sick last week was a whole new lesson in listening to my body and giving it what it needs when it’s down.  And considering it’s FLU season, I figured no time like the present, right? 😉

Breakfasts:

I ate lots of fresh fruit while I was sick, specifically for breakfast.  It was something that wouldn’t bug my stomach, and also give me a burst of energy from the natural sugars.  Mixed with yogurt, this was definitely something that made my body and mind happy.

Snacks

For snacks — I lived off of Wheat Thins, toast and hot tea.  Simple, soothing, and easy to digest for my body.

Lunches/Dinners

For 48 hours, I lived off soup and toast for dinner.  With a ton of chicken and fresh veggies.  The mix of protein, carbs, and salt did my body well.  There really is NOTHING more soothing than a warm bowl of soup when you’re down.  The only thing I maybe would have added was noodles 🙂

Treats

When I started to feel better, I had a little ice cream at the end of the day to sooth my throat and warm my heart 🙂  I also enjoyed some spicy dark chocolate and tea other days — because even sick Ashley normally craves sweets :).

And that my friends is WIA when I was sick :).  Thank goodness for feeling so much better, and of course Thanks again to the lovely peas and crayons for hosting!

Feelin’ Good

Good Morning Good Morning 🙂

Cold but sunny morning, makes for a refreshing morning walk with the Gusman before work this AM.

Stuck In Love

I ended up enjoying Stuck in Love last night.  The different story lines and relationships between family members were well done. With the exception of one element of the ending, I really appreciated that the movie was more honest and realistic than most romantic comedies/dramas tend to be to the challenges we all face in love and our families [even though I don’t know if the movie technically falls into the romantic comedy genre].

Once the movie ended — I enjoyed half of my red velvet cake piece (saved some for tonight) and watched some food network with the furballs until it was time for bed.

Man I am one exciting lady everyone!

This Morning

Zach is on the East coast, and we live in the Mountain time zone, so I had a text come in from him about 330 this AM.  I don’t remember fully waking up to the text, but I was going in and out of weird dreams for the rest of the morning.  So by the time my 6 AM alarm went off, I was a bit thrown off but ready to seize the day :).

I did a bit of YOGA for runners before getting the furball out for his morning walk — the two of those activities being the extent of my morning exercise.  I have been really working on listening to my body and respecting the healing/tapering, and my body is responding well :).  I am planning on some more light sweatin’ this afternoon — but nothing too crazy. This not having a work out schedule has been really beneficial for me this week.  I am loving the flexibility for a few days 🙂

And now — it’s all about my apple, yogurt, and work.  🙂  WooHoo!

Question of the Morning:  What’s your favorite work breakfast?

I need some new ideas every one . . .
