Just Another Friday Party

So while I am beyond happy to be feeling better  . . .

My poor husband is now down for the count.  This poor, sad little sight is what I came home to from work this afternoon.

I asked this on twitter when I got home:

What’s worse?  Being sick yourself or coming home to a sick husband on your first day back from work.

The poor guy is a trooper and in general handles being sick pretty darn well, but I tried to make my wifely duties proud and take care of him tonight.

Make his favorite mea:

Homemade pizza

  • half a green pepper
  • half a yellow onion, sauteed and blackened before
  • one yellow beat steamed
  • pepperoni
  • mozzarella cheese
  • crust from sprouts

While Zach certainly has the pizza making down, mine wasn’t so bad if I do say so myself.

He’s done such a great job of taking care of me this week, it was almost nice to pay him back and do wifely duties.

The poor animals are a bit confused about what’s going on around this house though 🙂

Sweepstakes Loot

Guess what I won!  A box of my FAVORITE thinkThin creamy peanut butter bars.  I know I’m trying to eat real foods, and less processed goodies.  But these are my absolutely favorite.  And quite frankly, the stats aren’t bad.  20 grams of protein and 0 grams of sugar.   Not.Too.Shabby.

Thanks thinkThin for sending me the loot!  You can be confident that I’ll love every.single.bite 🙂

Tonight

And now, it’s time to return to my poor sick boy and enjoy the chocolate I brought home to cheer him up.  (All while watching THE CARDINALS of course)

And a spicy dark bar for me — along with a lot of H20 of course.

Long Run

I am  hopeful that I can get a good run in tomorrow morning.  Of course, my FIRST priority is my health, and the second I feel pain, weird, exhausted, then I will stop and respect what my body needs.

You all know I’ll let you know how it goes.

Have a great Friday night all.

Question of the Night:  What’s worse?  You being sick, or your loved ones?

It’s a tough one, but my poor boy is SO pitiful I have to say it’s worse to see him sick.

Friday Round Up — October 11, 2013

It’s back to normal business around here 🙂

Friday round up time 🙂

Favorite Run:

Honestly, my run this morning.  Just moving my legs again was exactly what this girl needed.

But the prettiest run, definitely my trail run.

Favorite Treat

No pictures of it, but definitely my ice cream from Little Man Monday night 🙂

ice cream

The flavors were cupcake and a space something or another.  It had raspberry ice cream and lots of fudge and brownies.  Amazing.  Next time I’ll take pictures, I was just too excited.

Favorite Eat

Everything from Duo Monday night

Favorite Moment:

Feeling good on the treadmill this morning.  Honestly — I suck at being sick.  Feeling NORMAL again was the best feeling in the world.

And of course, a round up of my other eats for the week 🙂

Unfortunately due to being sick, the eats weren’t SO exciting after the weekend. . . but still some goodies in there.

And last but not least

Friday Favorites

  1. My health — let me tell you.  It only takes 48 hours, and a bit of a scare, to be reminded how thankful I am to be healthy and happy.
  2. My parents — Love them — always…but  nothing like a good chat with your parents to pull you out of a funk.
  3. Running — Anytime I need to take away from running always reminds me why it’s my favorite
  4. The Blog — I got more love than I could have ever imagined this week.  Thanks so much everyone — I really appreciate it.
  5. Fall walks — I went on a lot of walks with Gusman being sick (it was all I could do) and it reminded me why Fall is so many peoples favorite season.  Truly is beautiful.

Happy Friday All 🙂

Question of the Afternoon:  Give me one of your Friday Favorites 🙂

I’m BACK! :) Work Out Round-Up October 11, 2013

I’m back everyone! 🙂

im-back

Thank you all SO much for sending so many healthy vibes and well wishes my way over the past couple of days.

Last night I started feeling better, and this morning woke up feeling almost as good as new.

The most important thing for me this morning was feeling normal. . .

so I did what normal Ashley would do.  Strapped up my running shoes, and hit the gym for a VERY EASY 5k.

Workout of the Morning:  Easy “I’m Back” 5k Baby!

  • 29 minute 30 second 5k.
  • And I’ve never been happier to be able to run 🙂

I promised myself from the second I woke up, that if I started feeling any pain in my stomach, that I would stop right away.  But, THANKFULLY, I felt fine the entire time — and actually felt like I was running on new legs.

I think my body needed a bit of a break, and I’m glad that I had so many people reminding me to respect that :).

I promise you all that I would NOT have even attempted the run if I didn’t feel significantly better than I did yesterday.  And I do not necesarily advise that other people handle any kind of illness the same way I do.  For 48 hours, I rested, snotted, and did NOT shower.  But now — while still a bit snotty, I am showered and ready to try and be a normal human being again :).

Workout Round Up for the Week

Well — that didn’t work out as planned ;).

Here were my planned workouts

  • Monday – 10 miles stationary bike and 30 minutes strength
  • Tuesday – AM yoga – PM 4-5 mile run
  • Wednesday – 10 miles stationary bike and yoga/light strength
  • Thursday – 4-5 mile easy run
  • Friday – Rest/Yoga
  • Saturday – Long run – 10 miles
  • Sunday – Recovery run/bike

And here is how it’s actually worked out

  • Monday – 10 miles stationary bike and 30 minutes stregnth
  • Tuesday – LUNCH yoga, 5 mile trail run
  • Wednesday – Unplanned SICK day
  • Thursday – Unplanned SICK day — walked 4 miles
  • Friday — IM BACK 5k
  • Saturday — Planned long run
  • Sunday — Planned recovery

I stress PLANNED on both Saturday and Sunday because I am not going to push it this weekend.  Of course I am hoping that I can run, but I am not going to give my body a set expectation.  Both physically and mentally — I want to do what’s best for my body.  Whether that’s 10 miles, or 1 mile.

And that folks, is how this weird week has worked out.

One things for sure — I’m glad it’s Friday 🙂

Question of the Day:  What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

Feeling better 🙂
