Thank you so much to EVERYONE for sending so many healthy thoughts my way 🙂
I think the consensus is a bout with some food poisoning. Violent, awful, but quick moving. I’m continuing to feel better and better as the day goes on. A lot of Wheat Thins, sparking water, and Starbursts. How weird am I?
I did want to backtrack a bit and get back to more normal business.
Yesterday’s Run
5 miles in the Park
Even though I wasn’t feeling hot, I went back to my new favorite park for a quick walk or run . . . whatever my body was feeling. It was far too beautiful to NOT at least give the run a shot.
I took the first mile nice and slow, and told myself that I could reevaluate at every mile (or more if needed) whether or not I wanted to keep going.
Yesterday I ran one loop around the lake, and then decided to jump off the paved trail and give the actual trails a shot.
The trails were a great idea. Beautiful and really could take you anywhere.
I ended up making it 5 miles — nice, slow and easy.
(they obviously knew I was coming….)
Like I said, nice and slow. 9:47 BEAUTIFUL miles.
This run reminded me of WHY I love running outside. To make things even MORE surprising, I left my IPOD at home for this one. I really wanted to be in tune with my body AND with the great outdoors ;)…and I’m so glad I did.
I felt SO much more aware of my surroundings and so in tune with everything around me. Snakes, bugs and all. 😉
Seems like I’m stepping closer and closer to my goal of finding at least one run outdoors that I can do a week as the weather gets cold. It’s hard NOT to want to be outside when I have runs like this one.
Question: Where is your favorite place to run?
Glad you got the run in, and hooray for going without music. Isn’t it a huge difference? I will probably never go back.
It’s way to easy for me to forget how nice it is to disconnect sometimes.
Beautiful location! And wheat thins, sparkling water, and starbursts sound like an amazing meal to me…Maybe I should get food poisoning 😉
And I’m glad you found a good running spot! That always makes it easier!
Such a gorgeous run, it’s hard to stay inside when that trail is calling. Glad you are felling better.
Couldn’t agree more.
Cute shorts!!! I love to run in Breckenridge! And Minnesota. 🙂
I’ve only run in Breck once — and it was a CHALLENGE but absolutely beautiful.
I adore running outside, treadmill dreadmill for me! Running in a new city is my favourite 🙂
I used to hate it — but I don’t know what my problem is lol
Glad you’re feeling better – food poisoning is the worst! I ditched my head phones on outdoor runs about a year ago and haven’t looked back. Before I couldn’t imagine running without them, but now I can’t imagine it with them!
I haven’t ditched my headphones in so long but I remembered why I love it.
Sorry to hear that you got the punies! I imagine that wonderful husband of yours took good care of you. Amazing photos of your run yesterday! So proud of you.
That run looks absolutely beautiful!
Zach and I ran at Boyd Lake over the weekend and it was beautiful. Mountain backdrops, a big lake and nice paved trails. it was very tranquil! However, Running throught San Diego is the most beautiful run I’ve ever had, beautiful city, then we ran through the rolling hills (ouch) and ended in sea world. But neither of those are readily available to me in the midwest…
Zach and I have been running without our ipods on our runs together, and its nice to enjoy each other and our surroundings, but I still use it when I’m running solo. I’m so glad you’re feeling better!
Food poisoning is brutal. Although it doesn’t last long it’s not pleasant. Last time I couldn’t keep anything down. Even my medication. Such a horrible feeling
That part is awful — you can’t keep down anything! Even what you need to!
Oh also how do you like your garmin watch??
I am looking into getting a gps watch.
I really like it — only problem is I can’t get it to connect to the computer anymore unfortunately. Otherwise I think they’re great for tracking your runs!
OK so it’s crazy you got food poisoning or a stomach bug or whatever…because the guy I’m seeing right now traveled to Denver on Sunday for work and he was sick all day Monday + part of Tuesday with what sounds like something very similar!!! I wonder if there’s something going around 😛
That is crazy! I’m starting to wonder if it is some kind of stomach bug considering I’m still struggling today! Hope your guy is feeling better!
It seemed like his stomach thing was bad for about a day and a half. It first happened a little after lunchtime on Monday, and he didn’t get himself out of bed until Tuesday afternoon/evening…he was forced to though, since he’s there to work and couldn’t really get out of it!
I actually didn’t get a chance to catch up with him yesterday, so I’m not sure if he improved or not. But I hope you start feeling better soon!
Ah I’m so jealous of your run, it looks gorgeous!
It really was 🙂 I’ll be spending lots of time there 🙂
