Have I mentioned to you all how cool Zach and I are?
Zach didn’t have to work when I got home tonight, which is rare — so we broke out our cool points and brought out the big guns. Scrabble.
That’s right (PS: my letters SUCKED and this is proof)
The game started with hope . . .
But ended in very sad defeat for this lady.
Zach and I both had a pretty awful game, but he took it 260 to 178.
I LOVE Scrabble, but unfortunately cannot spell, so it’s normally not a pretty outcome for me.
My claim to Scrabble fame: playing “rugrats” as my first play. 7 letters. double word. Star. Unfortunately, it was disputed shortly after. Bummer.
And yes — we have weird nick-names for each other. Don’t ask, just add it to the cool points.
Timing was perfect, and we finished our game just in time for the boys in Orange and Blue to begin.
The Broncos are the one Denver team I will claim. . . Zach was born here in Denver and his family are all pretty big fans, so I guess I kind of married into it.
Dinner tonight was a healthy version of GREAT tailgaiting food as well. Burgers and fries.
Or — lamb burgers on kale salad and asparagus . . . but really, it was good 🙂
And now, we’re wrapped up in some blankets watching the game. I don’t know about where y’all are, but Denver has welcomed Fall with much cooler temps. Which quite frankly I’m OK with if it means cuddling 🙂
Have a great night everyone 🙂
Question of the Night: What is your favorite board game?
My favorites growing up were games like Mouse Trap, that required so much set up I never actually learned to play the real game. Now, I’m all about Scrabble and Sequence!
It’s not really a board game, but Apples to Apples is so much fun when you get a huge group of people together. Catchphrase is great too!
I love both of these!!
Cards against humanity is a dirty kind of Apples to Apples, very fun though!
I love Scrabble!!! Lol. I’ve been wanting to join a Scrabble club. I honestly haven’t played in a long time anyways. Hah.
Oh my goodness, I am a scrabble fan! My friends and I play scrabble all the time and if it’s not scrabble then it’s Bananagrams. Right now the favorite board game is called, “Ticket to Ride.” I would say my friends and I play this close to every time we get together… and multiple games in a row. If you haven’t heard of it before then you should definitely look it up. They have an online version but that’s so not the same. It’s best with 4-5 people (though you can play with less) and also with the expansion pack. We play the US version but I also think other continents would be fun.
Oh, another game… Racko… and phase 10… and Pass the Pigs… and Cranium… and Catch Phrase (boys vs. girls)… and hearts… and well, you get the point, we love games. 🙂
Pass the Pigs — LOVE! Have you ever played Pig Party?
No! What is Pig Party?
It’s pass the pigs — with 2 pigs played at once and cards. it’s awesome.
I love scrabble! I’m such a big fan (errr, dork?) that I was proposed to over a scrabble game and almost didn’t realize it because I was busy complaining about a misspelled 7 letter word. He broke out SAPHIRE, which is what my engagement ring was, and I wasn’t getting it — even as he got down on bended knee. So, there’s that.
Oh, and those lamb burgers look YUM!
I got chills! I LOVE that story — how adorable! I wanted a Scrabble wedding theme of some kind (My name is Ashley, and of course then Zach. . . A to Z kinda thing) but we ended up doing it for the shower instead.
Tell you husband/fiance that I LOVE his idea 🙂
Yummm that dinner looks so good! Lol Kyle won’t play scrabble or word games with me. I’m not particularly good, he just isn’t great with word games…lame.
Zach is good with those two letter words that are worth like 50 points somehow. Get’s me every time. A hole.
LOL

Life was one of my favorite board games growing up. Hubby doesn’t like playing Scrabble against me, so we opt for Yahtzee! That game is one of the best ever.
Yahtzee!! Also a Jara family favorite!
