I Can’t Spell

Have I mentioned to you all how cool Zach and I are?

Zach didn’t have to work when I got home tonight, which is rare — so we broke out our cool points and brought out the big guns.  Scrabble.

That’s right (PS: my letters SUCKED and this is proof)

The game started with hope . . .

But ended in very sad defeat for this lady.

Zach and I both had a pretty awful game, but he took it 260 to 178.

I LOVE Scrabble, but unfortunately cannot spell, so it’s normally not a pretty outcome for me.

My claim to Scrabble fame:  playing “rugrats” as my first play.  7 letters. double word.  Star.  Unfortunately, it was disputed shortly after.  Bummer.

And yes — we have weird nick-names for each other.  Don’t ask, just add it to the cool points.

Timing was perfect, and we finished our game just in time for the boys in Orange and Blue to begin.

GOBRONCOS

The Broncos are the one Denver team I will claim. . . Zach was born here in Denver and his family are all pretty big fans, so I guess I kind of married into it.

Dinner tonight was a healthy version of GREAT tailgaiting food as well.  Burgers and fries.

Or — lamb burgers on kale salad and asparagus . . . but really, it was good 🙂

And now, we’re wrapped up in some blankets watching the game.  I don’t know about where y’all are, but Denver has welcomed Fall with much cooler temps.  Which quite frankly I’m OK with if it means cuddling 🙂

Have a great night everyone 🙂

Question of the Night:  What is your favorite board game?

My favorites growing up were games like Mouse Trap, that required so much set up I never actually learned to play the real game.  Now, I’m all about Scrabble and Sequence!

Workout Plan for the Week September 23, 2013 and A Mini Goal

I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers and friends right along with me today talking about goals, inspiration and motivation.

That makes me happy!

I find inspiration and motivation from you all CONSTANTLY — so keep it up 🙂

Thanks to all the chatter about goals and such, I set a mini-goal for myself today as well

Mini-goal – DRINK MORE WATER.

DSCN0404

I know I need to drink more water.  I’m a runner, and I live at altitude.  HELLO ASHLEY.  But for whatever reason, I am pretty awful and getting enough in each day.

Today, I am keeping a glass at my desk at work at all times and will consistently make an effort to sip from it.  Even if it’s a little at a time, it’s something.

And now, onto more NORMAL Monday activity: my workout plan for the week 🙂

Workout Plan for the Week – September 23, 2013

  • Monday – YOGA and 30 minutes stationary bike
  • Tuesday – 4-5 mile Speed Run
  • Wednesday – 4-5 mile recovery run
  • Thursday – Strength
  • Friday – REST/2 miles easy treadmill/YOGA
  • Saturday – LONG run 12 miles
  • Sunday – Recovery Run/Bike

For this week, I am switching up my running days a bit and doing two back-to-back, then giving myself a little break from running again before my long run.  I am really trying to test out how my legs respond best before the half. Last week, I ran Thursday, then took Friday completely off and had a great run Saturday.

This week, I want to exhaust my legs Tuesday and Wednesday, then let them shake out with a short run Friday to prep them for a long run Saturday.  We’ll see how they respond in comparison to last week.

Training is all about trial and error, right? 🙂

Question of the Day:  What would your mini goal for the day be today?

An Inspirational Monday

Monday’s aren’t so bad right?

That is the mantra I am telling myself this morning :).  Monday is the start of a new week, and a new opportunity to make it a GREAT week, so that is what I am going to try and do today and this week.  Who’s with me?

I went to bed pretty optimistic last night — thanks to a great weekend.  So I started this week off with a nice, refreshing workout to go along with it

Workout of the Day:  Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown and 30 minutes stationary bike (10 miles)

Jillian is a little to loud for my taste sometimes — but her yoga is a nice mix of relaxing and heart pumping.   A nice Monday morning routine.

Plus 30 minutes on the bike in the gym after.

I spy an Ashley

Unfortunately I was so in the moment and zen that I didn’t realize I was running about 10-15 minutes behind this morning — so I quickly jumped into gear and got moving.

Journaling

You all know I carry around my beautiful little purple journal in case inspiration strikes at any moment.

Picture 037

This week — I’m giving myself a little assignment of actually opening up the journal and writing a couple time a day.  Specific things I hope to include:

  • an inspirational quote to focus on through out the day
  • work outs of the day
  • eating and eating trends through out the day
  • anything out of the ordinary

This is really just inspired by my own desire to take ownership of where I’m at, where I’m going, and how I’m going to get there.  I’ll keep you all up to date on how it’s going and reactions I’m experiencing.

My quote for the day

“Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.” – Farrah Gray

I am loving this quote today because I am currently really trying to find and take advantage of opportunities out there.  Be introspective, recognize what makes me happy, and push to find that happiness.

I will be back later this afternoon with my work out plan for the week — I think I’ve left you all with enough to chew on this morning 🙂

Question of the day:  What is your favorite motivational or inspirational quote?
