DJ’s, More Wedding Stuff, and Pizza!

Another night, another wedding meeting!

Tonight we met our DJ at the Starbucks in the REI headquarter building in Denver.

We actually met at the Starbucks inside the building.

We’ve been to the REI quite a few times, but never to the Starbucks.  It was  really nice and an easy spot to for a meeting like this.  Zach and I split a soy cappuccino for fuel.

The meeting with Rocco (love his name) went really well.  We got a lot accomplished and I feel like we got chat and he really got to know Zach and I and our image for our big day.

Things knocked off the list today:

  • all ceremony music (think bridal party procession, my walk down, music during ceremony, and send off)
  • timeline/schedule of events
  • songs for the specific dances: father/daughter, mother/son, cake cutting, etc.
  • cocktail music
  • dinner music
  • connections with the band

Our DJ is also basically going to be our day-of coordinator.  So it was really great for us to all get to know each other a little better.  I am confident he is going to have our day run perfect.  Smooth sailing 🙂

After our meeting with Rocco, we went for a picnic dinner at our favorite local join, DBC.

Zach made us a fresh salad from whatever we had left of from the weekend produce

DSCN0257

Lots of produce from our yummy garden.

Which we enjoyed with a brick oven pizza from the food truck.

DSCN0260

Yum and YUM!

DSCN0261

I dont even remember everything on it because Zach ordered it, but there was lots of goat cheese, sausage, and mushrooms.  To die for.

DSCN0262

Productive and wonderful evening!

Love him 🙂

We’re now back home and the plan is to relax with the family, were still working on those zucchini cookies so you know what we’ll be doing 🙂

Have a good night friends!

100’s – Quick, No Equipment Necessary, Work Outs

Alright friends, you all have probably noticed, I’m an odd duck.

DSC_1990

Come hang out with us!

I bite my tongue often, and make a fool out of myself pretty much on the reg.

DSC_2005

Check out those guns, seriously. She works out.

I’m also pretty passionate (read: OCD) about being active.  It’s my ME time, my happy please, you know.

Mix the two together, and you get a girl who will “drop and give you twenty” anywhere the moment strikes.

I often don’t make as much time for strength training as I’d like, so lately I’ve been sneaking in little strength training sessions where I can: during lunch, while Zach walks Gus, when I wake up, etc.  I’ve been calling them 100’s as they are always loosely based around the number 100.

These are really convenient workouts that require no equipment,  quick/high rep, full body, and can be done anywhere.  Yes — I do them often in my work break room or in office that has a huge window (it’s OK, people know I’m weird around here), but they can also be done at home, in a park, anywhere.  Basically: my kinda deal.

I thought I’d share a few of my favorites, and if you all like them, start to share them whenever I write up a new one (normally once a week or so). You all can do them along with me! 🙂

100’s Number One

  • 50 mountain climbers
  • 25 crunches
  • 25 push ups (on knees)
  • 25 basic lunges (each leg)
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 25 push ups
  • 25 lunges (stepping back)
  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 25 crunches
  • 25 push ups
  • 25 side lunges (each leg)
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 25 push ups
  • 25 squats

100’s Number Two

  • 50 mountain climbers
  • 25 calf raises
  • 25 push ups (on knees)
  • 100 second plank
  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 25 squats
  • 25 push ups
  • 100 second side plank – L
  • 50 high knees
  • 25 calf raises
  • 25 push ups
  • 100 second side plank – R
  • 25 lunges
  • 25 push ups
  • 100 second forearm plank

100’s Number Three

  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 25 push ups (on knees)
  • 100 second wall sit
  • 100 second plank
  • 50 high knees
  • 25 push ups
  • 25 lunges
  • 25 squats
  • 25 push ups
  • 100 second side plank – L
  • 100 second side plank -R
  • 25 lunges
  • 25 squats
  • 25 push ups

So the primary things I’m looking for when I do a 100’s exercise:

  • work the whole body
  • do different body parts in sequence (abs, arms, then legs)
  • integrate cardio bursts
  • no equipment: little space
  • simple moves, I’m not all about learning fancy schmancy work out moves.  I get bored easily.

Obviously, I create these on the fly and just go with what my body is telling me.  I normally finish these pretty winded but feeling strong.

DISCLAIMER:  I am not a physician, personal trainer, or any kind of professional at all.  These are just workouts I’ve created for myself that I enjoy sharing with you.  As always, please contact one of these professionals before starting any kind of exercise program.

That’s all for now!  I’ll be back tonight after our meeting with our DJ.  A little birdy also asked if we could picnic at DBC again afterwords, and really, who am I to say no?

One Question for the Afternoon:  A lot of my posts are wedding focused right now with it being so close.  I’m trying to be sure to mix a few other things in there (AKA 100’s), but I want to hear from any readers.  Anything you’d be interested to hear about from me?

I Felt Lazy…

My Hair and Make Up Trial for the Big Day!  post went up late last night, so don’t forget to check it out if you missed it 🙂

When Zach’s alarm went off this morning at 5 (he works with people all over the country, so has early AM appointments often), I had the feeling that it was going to be another sleep in morning.  The room was chilly and I did not want to get out of my warm bed.

By the time my alarm went off at 545, my brain was a little too awake and I started to get an itch to move.

I felt lazy.  I needed to do something!

So, at 610 I rolled out of bed and decided I was going to get in a good workout.  We have another wedding meeting directly after work tonight, and I didn’t want to have that pent up anxiety and energy that I had yesterday after such a long day.  Poor Zach doesn’t deserve two days of that.

Reminder:

DSCN0239

(this was me last night…while we were “relaxing watching TV.”  I dont do well pent up all day, haha).

So…I ran.

Workout of the Day: About 5 miles

  • 3.1 miles on the treadmill
  • A little under 2 miles outside.

My legs felt surprisingly good, but I did take it slow on the ‘mil for the first few miles.  Once outside, it was beautiful and crisp and I felt like I could move.

Like I’ve mentioned, my body has been screaming at me a bit, so I do want to respect that.  I still hope to get some yogis or stretching in at some point today, but for now I’m just happy to have gotten that out of the way this morning.

DSCN0056

Old sweaty pic…just throwing it in there 🙂

DSC_0708

And just for something pretty to look at!  Why I need to keep getting outside on my runs.

Have a great day everyone!  DJ meeting tonight to talk all things music, so you know I’ll be back with another wedding update!

Question of the Day:  Do you ever wake up planning to rest, but just get the itch to move?
